i've been on a bit of a bad luck streak with the ol' musical muse this week. i've had the first 2 lines for that duration, but it wasn't until tonight that something came together!
i purposely tried to make something that sounded less wall-of-soundy than my other stuff (trust me - i was halfway to giving it the full treatment before i remembered what I wanted to do - hah!)
fun fact; i wanted the synth part to something like something springsteen might use
picking at the scabs on my knee
sleeping in speckled red bed sheets
snooze the alarm, waste some minutes
who’ll keep the bed warm, if i’m not in it?
online yoga, day three, third try
too early to hear my bones cry
too early to hear my bones cry
and here comes the civil twilight
just a bit later each night
just a bit later each night
late again today, no change there
mind’s somewhere else, how’d i get here?
feel my new scab through my blue jeans
i think it’s ready, let’s see it bleed
running in the dark on a week night
i’ve lost every bit of my might
i’ve lost every bit of my might
but here comes the civil twilight
just a bit later each night
just a bit later each night

Your stuff's great. Dreamy and evocative. Voice sounds great. This is an ecellent song title! I'm getting a Fleet Foxes or My Morning Jacket sound by way of a Jeff Lynne production sense.

I really like this lyric a lot. And your melodies are always enticing. I'm not sure how you would wall of sound it, but this is a good treatment.

Thank crumbs you hung on to those two lines until the song was ready to come to you - it's another winner!
I do like the slightly more stripped down sound you went for - but it's still unmistakably 'you', in a good way.

I can't remember when I added you to my watchlist but I can see why I did so after listening to this song. Man, it's so big and beautiful. Guitars are great, as is your voice. The whole thing works beautifully. Great lyric, too. It's all so deliciously bittersweet

such an awesome lyric in this one pal! mix that with your dreamy guitars and vocal and its golden. totally getting the springsteen vibe on that synth. its got a real retro feel but a modern edge. and the softening of the vocals on the outro is gorgeous. another winner

This is gorgeous! The lyrics are wonderful and the instrumental is a perfect companion for em. Well done!

"too early to hear my bones cry" - what an evocative line. The whole song is evocative - the reverb on the vox adds a very retro feel. I feel like I'm back listening to my parents working their way through their record collection in the late 70s/early 80s. Beautiful.

Love the chord progression and melody. Well done.
