Feb 2022 instrumental
Just an instrumental piece for now, though if someone has lyric ideas, I'd be interested. (Update: @emkaydeebee has written some nice lyrics and we should have a demo up soon.)
Update: the new version is at https://fawm.org/songs/138010/

Hmmm. I'd be happy to help write this one....
Stealing from @rayboneor
I got this far:
Til my kid broke my headphone jack
I made music all the time
When I could still stay up past ten
I drank a lot more wine
Where does all the daylight go
Well, maybe I do know
There's soccer and there's ballet
There's driving em and drilling em
And saying, don't talk back
I'm happy to come back to this direction or strike out in a new one...or @rayboneor, maybe you want to take it from here, since it is your life I'm writing.

Nick Cave's voice, singing about the aftermath of some vague, horrible occurrence(s), all the guilt that is plaguing all those involved, maybe a hospital called Providence is involved. Okay that last detail might be too corny, or obvious. Or, maybe a double meaning in there. But it does work very well as an instrumental on its own, very evocative, and conjures up lots of movement. I just did the Nick Cave thing because you mentioned lyric ideas, and that's what I could picture over that music.

A strong, uplifting melody and chord progression here. I agree that this doesn’t need any singing.

I am finding a common theme on tracks I have listened to this morning, instrumentals with nice steady and catchy drum tracks. This builds nicely over the main couple of (piano?) riffs. Don't know that it needs lyrics but I might listen through a couple of more times and see what it triggers.

This is pretty mesmerizing. It takes me back to the time before my daughter broke off the headphone jack in my iPad. I used to make music on that thing all the time--or rather the iPad did all the work. Now I have to try to play myself, which I don't like. (Once I got the jack out I'd forgotten the password.) Enough about me. Did you do all this on Garageband for iOS? Sounds great, with so many textures. You held my interest all the way. Doesn't need lyrics
