This is a song about smelling coffee and watching TV. I was thinking of my girlfriend while writing some of this. She's really cool.
Its the fate of the stars its the smell of old cars
Gasoline bought from Reagan in 1984
If you’ll pour me a drink I can tell you what I think
About movies and climate change and you
You
I try to recall but there’s nobody at all
But you
These circumstances lend themselves to taking place in spaces where there wasn’t a thing in the world but you
I’ve been thinking up some themes scared of natural dreams
I’m just looking for a friend when I close my eyes
Someone I can take a drive with let the evening slide with
I can search for far and wide but the only one I can come up with is you
Its still just you
I can try to recall but there’s nobody at all thats ever existed before there was you

Cool atmosphere. Somehow made me think of the Jim Jarmusch film "Coffee and Cigarettes", probably because of the title, but there is a similar feel to it, despite the fact that coffee and cigarettes actually play a huge part in the film whereas coffee and TV here are more of a background to everything. I suppose it's the indie feel.

I love the languid groove. Those accent notes on the whole notes are great. It's so sweet the way you sing "you." The lyrics in the beginning appeal to me, though I can't say exactly why. And I just love this line: These circumstances lend themselves to taking place in spaces where there wasn’t a thing in the world but you
I like it all, really, so let's leave it at that :)
