Anyone who's had trouble sleeping can possibly relate to how infernal the ticking of a clock can be. Just counting the seconds of your life away. So the protagonist of this, with his always asleep wife, invests in a new quartz clock. Naturally, it could have been "since I got my new digital clock," or "since I started just using my phone as an alarm and timepiece," But didn't have the same ring to it.
Eyes burned from lack of sleep
Heard time ticking away
Staring wide-eyed at the ceiling
Clock tocking ever more seconds away
When I got my new quartz clock
Second hand moved quiet and sleek
The void stopped staring back at me
Bundled up in bed, complete
Soft breathing next to me
Dreamland has taken away
Off tho dreamland my love is gone
And I'm here to stay
But thanks to my new quartz clock
Second hand moves quiet and sleek
The void stopped staring back at me
Bundled up in bed, complete

Highly relatable. For me, it's a fan that my wife keeps on in the bedroom constantly, and sometimes it vibrates its way too close to the wall, and suddenly there's slight 'bump' sound that keeps happening. And invariably that happens in the middle of the night. You did a great job of describing the sleepless state in the first verse, and on to the great relief of the new, silent clock. And, very, very relaxing music, fittingly enough.
