I have no idea where this one came from. Content-wise it's a good old motivational, personally I think there's a theme of letting go of old lies that have been told over you but I think it can be fairly open to interpretation.
A little theatrical, had a lot of fun on the harmonies on this one. I also got a liiiiiittle bit tired of trying to get all the vocals to sync perfectly... it's a demo after all!
Devils in the details
What will you do next
When the plan fails
How do you progress
If they’ve got you on the rocks you’ve got something they want
Its the next move
Don’t deliberate
You can still prove
You’re running in the race
Let them see it in your eyes that there’s no where to hide
Don’t let them write, the narrative
You’ve come too far to leave it where it is
You can still win the fight it’s all in the way you move
Dodge, duck, dive, weave
Dance like autumn leaves
Do what you need to do to keep pulling through
It’s a long leg
And they’ve got you on the ropes
Keep it in check
And hold on to your hope
They’re never gonna win if you just don’t give in
They don’t play fair
But under the pretence
They’re so scared
Of what they’re up against
There’s power in your mind they don’t want you to find
Don’t let them write the narrative
You’ve come too far to leave it where it is
You can still win the fight it’s all in the way you move
Dodge, duck, dive, weave
Dance like autumn leaves
You run the show just hold on to what you know
You’ve spent too long listening to that doubt
Smash those lies until they’re inside out
They try to cut you down cos they’re so small
Well show em you’re never going to fall
Dodge, duck, dive, weave
Dance, like, autumn, leaves
You are the star just hold on to who you are
Dodge, duck, dive, weave
Dance, like, autumn, leaves
You are the star just hold on to who you are

There is a real show tune feel about this. If there was ever a musical adaptation of ".... Cuckoo's Nest" this song would have a place within it.
From the three songs of yours I have heard or read, so far, it is obvious that you are a master of exploring our inner world. I am going to watchlist you so I can follow your path next FAWM.

Interesting rhythm - it really drew me in. Those vocals - that melody - yup this is really cool. It is a beautiful motivational song, and a super creative one at that. Really well done Nate!

Very impressive composition and vocal performance. This repeated piano line and that Steely Dan type singing is my cup of tea. Great imagery..dandy ( had to get my 'd' in there) song

Some fine images in the lyric and drama in the performance. I enjoyed the harmonies and the piano too. I like how you take time for moments. "Dance like autumn leaves"....great image. And all the "d" words. A lot of flair in this!

So many great elements to this. Impressive write and musical composition. The refrain "Dodge, duck, dive, weave
Dance, like, autumn, leaves", is soooo good. Great sentiment to this song of encouragement. Really liked the harmonies you did during the verse ...Details and Plan fails, etc.
The other thing I'd say is that the pace of the song just seems to ebb and flow so naturally, which keeps it interesting. Well done!

Really classy stuff, Nate. That’s the awesome thing about doing something like FAWM. It’s surprising how many songs come from who knows where, because your brain is a bit more tuned into receiving them. Definitely hearing a bit of a Steely Dan vibe in that nuanced, clever melody. The central piano motif is really nice, particular the little bluesy ascending passing run (no idea if that’s the right way to describe it, but you know what I mean). Harmonies are on point as ever. Great write!

Very impressive both musically and lyrically...

How clever! Nice contrast with traditional piano and angsty, growly vocals. Steely Dan on stage.

This reminds me of song really good for a musical and the vocals a touch of Steeley Dan - really nice.
