Feb 2022 restless collab brisk-demo-done
For random collab challenge with Brisk.
I guess the lyrics are about someone who is restless to do something more with their life, and to see more places, but they don't quite know what it is they want to do, or where they want to go. Then they realise exactly where they need to be.
@Brisk - I've included a (very) rough vocal demo. It's only intended to give a bit of an idea of the melody that I had in mind. Feel free to use or ignore depending on what you think works best musically. Also, it was mainly the verses that I had a firm melody idea for, the bridge less so!
Note from Brisk - thanks for the words, this was fun to do. It was an interesting exercise to try to preserve your melody and do the backing: haven't done that before.
I Need To Go Somewhere
(Verse 1)
I need to go, somewhere
But where that is
I don't know,
Lost before
I've even started
Stuck with nowhere to go
(Verse 2)
I need to see, something
But what that is
I don't know,
Something big
Like the Antarctic
But maybe that's too cold?
(Bridge)
So I'm sitting here in my dressing gown
Browsing the Web and look what I found
A million destinations
A billion fascinations
A trillion things that I could do
I'm paralyzed by all the choices.
The din of competing voices
I'm deafened by all the noises
And then I think of you
Like that, I think of you
(Verse 3)
I need to go, somewhere
And where that is
I now know,
No matter how long
Since we parted
I'm at home with you
Home is there with you

The Antarctic bit is hilarious, great conversational style to the lyrics. Really like the structure of the verses too. Brilliant stoner rock guitars, very very catchy and a lot of fun. Awesome collaborating chaps.

I love the rockin music and the melodies are very catchy. I like the lyrics, and the end is so sweet. I didn't see that coming, but it was nice surprise. Great collab.

Great collaboration, guys!
Really, really nice set of lyrics and a great musical arrangement (which I think is @brisk right? Along with the vocal?)
Really enjoyed this one!

An upbeat rocker! Some fuzzy guitar work and a surprise acapella ending!

Bravo! Love those lyrics. They are perfect. Brisk, nice way to bring those lyrics to life. From my perspective, it all works great together.

I think I heard a version of this maybe yesterday, possibly Friday (time has no meaning for me anymore) and it was just a voice, no music. I didn't have a chance to comment then, so came back to do so today, and it's now complete! Great job! Great guitar sounds, lovely melody, and the slightly off-kilter drums in the bridge are unsettling in a cool way. Just knocks you off balance for a bar or two before you settle back in. Some lovely harmonies in there too. It's a really strong lyric and I reckon the musical realisation of it totally delivers.

Thanks @Brisk. What you've come up with is really cool and fun! Love the guitar sound. :)

Great, this sounds like a lot of fun. I have no idea what genre this is going to plop into, so unless you have very strong notions of where I should be aiming, we'll have to see where my wonky muse takes us! Thanks so much, excited. Will make a start over the weekend.

I like the melody quite a bit. I can hear it being catchy with a good hook and band in back of it. Nice start. This definitely has a good backbone. Well done.
