It just sort of went off in a strange direction
I asked if he was feeling himself again
He shrugged and gave a look of disdain
He told me it was none of my business
That I was to blame for his state of distress
To Kindly keep a civil tongue in my head
I was slightly confused, but I picked up the thread
He always gets this way at the start of the week
After he’s blown it on the gambling and the losing streak
Will not admit to the problem he’s got
Will not stop until he’s lost the lot
And I pretend that I have no idea
Put on a brave face try to look sincere
But one day when he reaches the depths
Maybe he’ll find some common sense
And I will be there to comfort him
To turn on the light when things look dim
And we will get through together
I'll be there to brave the bad weather
I only asked if he was feeling himself again
It’s like a Monday morning kind of thing
We both agree to lie to each other

These are such great lyrics. Honest and insightful. 'We both agree to lie to each other' is a very good concept. The guitar drums and vocal work really well together. A deep song.

I have to admit that's a lyrical content/direction you don't hear that much-- and it is intriguing for that reason among others. Tune is great, as always.
