Feb 2022 instrumental progressive-rock prog kids misapprehension kitchen-sink
Despite saying I was going to take a day off from FAWMing and chill out, this sort of happened.
Needless to say that despite getting to fourteen (go me!) I'll be keeping going for the rest of the month
@falconbridge Mar 2022
This is great! I like those phat organ pipes with the drums -- it's got some of that "Interstellar" intensity and it's so well done. Super enjoyed this track!!
(Interestingly, for me - you have this three-note sequence that scans, in my head, to "the ti-gers" and that's what hear when that part plays. And I couldn't resist singing along with your vocal descant. Very fun.)
@ryako Mar 2022
I feel like you should write lyrics and do vocals to this at some point because the lyrics would be awesome.
@tomslatter Mar 2022
Congrats on getting past 14. Only 8 for me this year, but I'm happy with them.
This is fun, nice epic feel to it. I like the fuzzy synth sounds in right channel and the guitar melody is great.
@corvisier Feb 2022
This is another good composition, like the guitar !
@jackdawfactories Feb 2022
What a huge sound! Incredible arrangement, and I love the basis.
@chroes Feb 2022
What a prompt to compose a song from! Love the idea.
Those chords are really nice, and I enjoyed the churchy organ sound. When the guitar enters the song, it's like now the tigers are finally coming and are all glorious and majestic. And then eat everyone watching, because, tigers.
@leka Feb 2022
Bring on the tiggers. Nice beat, beautiful arrangement. Very stylish piece.
@beat Feb 2022
Mmmmh! I luv the orchestra arrangement… and the rest. But the orchestra! Thx for the music.
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
Kids say it as it is! and take things literally! this builds quick and holds its position got almost a cathedral feel and a hurried scurrying middle. You know i would like this! sit back earphones late night very nice
@heliosonorous Feb 2022
Really great track, you use a lot of awesome sounds in here, very much has a cosmic feeling to it I sense, great tension in those strings!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Yup, sunk into that with the view of tigers coming. Very cool visual to the instrumental.
@tseaver Feb 2022
Nice write. What an awesome response to the kindergartner's excellent question. Fun rhythmic variety, and a great lyrical lead guitar part.
@blindkiwi Feb 2022
Everything I have come to expect from a HFO prog epic! Love the drums and the way the eerieness builds around 2:30 and 4:30 like a hive of angry killer bees, cos Tigers on their own ain't scary enough :D Excellent track Chris!
@elesimo Feb 2022
This is great, the drums reminded me of Rush. Love the story behind it!
@ineloquentsd Feb 2022
Oh, I am vibing to those long dark organ chords in the beginning! And then that frantic buzzy drone suggesting a sense of slightly manic panic with the operatic vocables is just such a great combo! Oh, this is just such a treat!
@sapient Feb 2022
That's a lovely story...
Your tones this year are just glorious, and here we go again. When the guitar first comes in it's so wonderfully understated, but so very *there*. The organ is magnificent, and that creamy lead is sublime.
And your singing voice has taken quite a sweet, operatic turn ;)
This is so well made.
Clearly you need more non-off off-days!
@sbs2018 Feb 2022
Great story! Catchy title, for sure. And that opening - wowsa! And it keeps on coming - so, yeah, the Tigers are Coming!
Funny that we should attend a Lunar New Year Festival this year.
I thought I would stop at 10, and #11 popped out today.
@splittybooms Feb 2022
Friggin love the title and the origins of this.
LOL I can totally see the kid's face in my mind with this ominous and "something bad's about to happen" feeling music playing as he asks when are the tigers coming lol
I think of the kid seeing all these epic and terrible scenes of tigers running amok through the streets and things are on fire and society is crumbling during the year of the tiger...this is all playing in his mind along with your track!
Good grief you set SUCH A MOOD and atmosphere here!
2:32 - THAT is great - its such a classic "oh noooo!!!!" feel there - what's the technical term for the kind of phrasing/melody/riff you're doing there (or is there even one)? Perfect for this.
Also LOVE the opera-like vocal that comes after - its adds to the chaos in this very menacing way. Like everything has gone crazy.
Smooth guitar solos sound great too. They're almost like a calm, as if the kid found some shelter from the tigers where they can't get to them. But...here they come again!
Wow, you took me on a complete movie's worth of a journey here with no words spoken, just a backstory and this amazing composition.
Crazy awesome.
@aeye Feb 2022
Let's talk about how good that organ is. It's so rich and has so much depth in this mix. I love it. What are you using for that? And then those reverby soaring guitars. oh man. those are just delicious. This just keeps evolving. Great use of the strings. and vox.
@fuzzy Feb 2022
Well now I'm imagining this tune blasting from speakers strapped to the backs of an army of rampaging tigers.
A wonderfully constructed and produced song here once again.
So many interesting sounds.
Those rising strings just before the "vocals" grabbed me.
Congrats on the 14!!!
@nagavaeoe Feb 2022
Sweet groove and thick chords. I really like the way the low brass/pipe organ drives things forward. Epic drums! Ominous string breakdown, then the lead synth has a vocal quality that kicks it up to creepy. Really sweet guitar solo and tone! Congrats on #14!
@toms Feb 2022
As a fellow year of the tiger person, I fully sympathize with my younger peer. Thr synth sounds here are out of sight, dramatic as heck, and the soloing tasteful, of course it is! Is it the Parker?
