People like me worked as hard as they could to achieve their American dream, being so focused on the hard work they don't realize that our country is set up for some people to succeed and others to fail. Once this is realized, there's turmoil between wanting change and realizing that things staying the same will be beneficial to you.
Should I take the flute out of the verse?
Why am I sitting still?
Got no time left to kill
There’s so much that’s got to be done
Why am I sitting still?
There’s no time left to kill
There’s so much that’s got to be done
Watching the news every morning
Car crash stolen cash tornado warning
Nothing positive what sells ads is negative
Makes me so tired I have nothing left to give
And that's a problem that's a serious one
If we can't stand tall then our freedom is done
But we're too worn down, inwardly focused
Feeling like trying to change the world is hopeless
I work so hard to take care of my family
I worked so long to achieve my dreams
As long as tax is paid I'll protect my property
Not realizing this system was built for folks like me
I follow the path and I stay out of trouble
While others may suffer I'm safe in my bubble
Please remain calm and take your pills
So you might forget why you're sitting still

Love the piano and trumpet parts! Think the flute is good, nice back up instrument, doesn't really take the spotlight. Yes, lyrics definitely fall between a call to action and jaded resignation. A lot to think about.

Really great job of mood setting. The mood is set in the sound and the words and the delivery. I can _feel_ the anxiety and tension.

Your voice fits so well with the instrumental! I love the message too. Great job!
