Feb 2022 banjo
[3 days later] I just realized I didn't put any other instruments in this. In some countries it's considered a war crime to have a banjo exclusive song. Must've been a pretty late night.
Goddamn my father, for spreading his sin to the world
Goddamn my mother for taking it all on her own
I love my brother, still in his birth and alone
God please forgive me. You're no longer welcome in this home.
[I deserve
My company, this battle, the war
I don't deserve to unwrite my part in this lore]
Goddamn this war, the rich leave the fighting to the poor
Goddamn this fight, I thought every man had a right to his rights
Grey cap, cold gun, I'm firing my shots at the sun
Blue cap, don't run, I won't kill my brothers for no one
[I deserve
My company, this battle, the war
I don't deserve to unwrite my part in this lore ]
Goddamn this warden, from the pits of the war to the cell blue tomb
Goddamn this woman, a broken heart bleeds into a broken home's wounds
Grey hair, blue heart, maybe this child brings a fresh new start
Blue child, grey heart,
The Rope
The Chair
The Fool Card
[ I deserve
I deserted
I deserve
I won't be heard
I deserve
I'm hurt
I'm hurt
I'm hurt]

One of my favourite things is the doubled instruments panned hard left and right, playing almost, but not quite, the same thing. That sounded sarcastic, even as I wrote it I thought that, but it wasn't. On almost every song I do, I double every guitar part and pan hard R and L so they almost match but not quite. I like the way it feels like it's bouncing through my head.
This does that too, but with banjos. Really nicely played banjos at that. The lyrics/vocals are bang on, as per, and the whole effect is a little unsettling, which I suspect is the aim. Excellent stuff.

GodDAMN man, wow! Really great lyrics, painting a picture, a moving painting. Big points for not only *using* but *rhyming* lore :) The production on the banjos creates this big, wide feeling like you're out on the battlefield and it's surrounded by mountains.

Another beautiful song with a simple arrangement that still expresses so much emotion. You are a master of that, my friend. And yeah, just be careful what country you release this in, you don't want to end up in The Hague ;)
See You In The Shadows…

I don't think the chorus to this sucks at all. I thought it was quite a haunting piece of music and I liked it very much - right up my street actually. Sounds like it comes straight from the Civil War.
