Feb 2022 folk freak-folk banjo harmonies
this one I wrote the old-fashioned way I suppose -- melody first, then words - the weirdness of words
being human, such a strange thing
you answer to the sound of vowels rearranging
the word for world is forest
and there are teeth in the grass
the mind it winds and it tangles
hold your rose the thorns will protect you
being pleasing doesn't please me
hi, how are you? how's the weather? now, let's get deep
the world for words is forest
and there are teeth in the grass
the web of meaning weaves us
it binds the mind within its spell
and you also weave the pattern
myth and metaphor
dream and devotion
biblical proportions
you speak, it echoes
your rhythm, it waxes and wanes
you grow ideas in your garden
return your seasons as birdflight

@wylddandelyon Thank you! I know of the novel but I haven't read it-- it did inspire the lyrics for this one although out of context.

This is cool. Did you know Ursula LeGuin wrote a novel called The Word for World is Forest?
I particularly like the line, "the web of meaning weaves us
it binds the mind within its spell"
#tit4tat if you're doing that.

Beautiful! Lovely melody and thoughtful lyrics. I love how the voices in the back, thought it was a slide banjo first. Also like the repeating of the world as a forest. It once was before we cut them down. Great work.
Peace

That simplistic banjo melody is so haunting and catchy! Love how you work with layers of vocals at the right moments, very effective. Could be even more pronounced maybe.

This is brilliant. The lyrics reminded me of things I've read by Krishnamurti about language. Love it so much.

Oh, the banjo and hauntingly soft backup vocals pair so well with these lyrics. And the images you invoke are strange, compelling, and delightful. What a lovely track!

I love all of this- the banjo, the lyrics, the cadence, and you have a lovely voice!
