Feb 2022 fearless1 instrumental guitar meditative
My first for this year's Fearless Challenge week. I thought a spoken word over an instrumental might work well with this. Note: this wasn't the prompt itself but inspired by @bethdesombre 's song, it was still a cool idea. For the guitar part, I used a standard capo on the second fret but I only capoed the bottom four strings, creating the slight dissonance you hear in this song,
Shoveling snow after the storm
Deep,white and heavy
After the snow, we try and keep warm
After the snow, after the snow
(inst)
Walking on ice after the storm
The ice that follows the melting snow
Choosing steps carefully
After the snow, after the storm
(inst)
After the storm, it is now warm
The ice is melting away
And so until next time
We get on with our lives
After the snow, after the storm
(inst to end)

Ah those first two words got me. Yea. And it is snowing again. I just love the guitar in this, it's kind of got a yearning sound, fits with the lyrics so well!

OK, for your next cd....make little segues between songs like this, you totally just mesmerize me with your guitar playing and voice. It seems other worldly and soothing. I really loved this!

I love the choice to do spoken word here - and I really like the way you ease into the guitar part, which is lovely and meditative. You've successfully captured the quiet, almost melancholy feel of a snowy landscape after a storm.

omg, my brain loves this sonic experience

This sounds a lot like something I would start strumming out. It even sounds like my guitar! Do you have a Takemine by any chance?

This is really evocative! I can imagine the deep drifts initially, and then the ice, and then the melting. The music underneath the lyrics is gorgeous.

Very pretty melody. Having lived in many snowy places and dealt with snow a lot, I can really relate to all of these verses, especially the line about choosing steps carefully! and then about getting on with our lives.
