I thought this A.I. drummer on Garageband sounded suspiciously like Tre Cool, and it reminded me how formative albums like Insomniac were for defining what I found exciting about music. So I aimed for a similar energy, albeit a more laid back vocal take (another tired weeknight). This was supposed to be kind of about how we Midwest folks don't shut up about the weather. Deep down I think it's our hokey small-talk way of avoiding silence while also avoiding getting into any potentially offensive deep or meaningful conversations. I'm about 60% satisfied with the lyrics. But this one's a tossoff, so whatevs. Sorry for the cussin'.
Verse 1:
Just cuz the weather sucks,
no need obsess
just cuz you’re shit outta luck
don’t make it Midwest
go on, go on
the vitamin D should kick in soon
go on, go on
you need a light box to read the room
Just cuz it’s the edge of a knife
don’t make it madness
Just cuz it’s the end of a life
don’t mean it’s tragic
go on, go on
this kinda thing happens every year
go on, go on
preTend like we’re all just pioneers
It isn’t California
Salt , shovel and scraper, and chains and
shove ‘em in the trunk.
go on, go on
the vitamin D should kick in soon
go on, go on
you need a light box to read the room
It isn’t California
It isn’t California

Go on harmonies are tight! great song. Satisfying Melodie’s all the way through. So glad my boss started acting like an ass which gave me the push I needed to move out of the Midwest. I’m never touching a snowblower again.

Ooh I love the chord changes of "It isn’t California," breaks it up really well! I like the energy, and that it's all just about a small gripe. It can be easy to get stuck on feeling like you need to tell a whole story with a song.

Great, sounds like a radio hit. So much energy and such a great sound. Very good lyrics too.

This was beyond earworm territory. As a resident of the North Central US who has lived in California, I can definitely attest to the veracity of your claims. That drum loop was right on. I would have leaned in this musical direction given that, too, and this was well-executed overall. Now, if you'll excuse me, we just got a bunch of sleet and I need to shovel (for real). Keep rocking it!

Catchy! I like this sound.
But apparently this isn't California.
I know it's just a demo, but the vocals sound good and could be a little more out front in my opinion!
