Feb 2022 fawmtronica old-folkie-with-sampler maschine automate-challenge slothcore
Well, that was.... noisy. Germ of an idea. Do week 2 one note melody challenge as a slothcore song at 30 bpm. Then I used as many automated note repeat functions as I could to make a couple dozen patterns to play with.
As a final touch, I added Izotope Vinyl heavily over the master track to add noise and variety over everything.
Another Maschine experiment in the can.
I'm primarily an acoustic folkie but I've been monkeying with a Native instruments Maschine Controller for about 4 months. I have been using Melodics to help me learn basic finger drumming skills (and assist me with trying to understand that thing that drummers do). I am just now at the stage where I can load samples, craft loops and assemble them into something resembling a song. I am going to try do a sample based something every day this FAWM. They are not polished productions but my path to adding these modern tools to my box of crayons. If anyone wishes to expand on these sketches, add lyrics, etc.., drop me a line and I can hook you up with Maschine files (and maybe midi if I learn how to export those).
Nope-- if you hear some let me know and we can collab.

I think there’s progress in the Maschine work, but the poor sloth must a come close to a nervous breakdown… anyone with ears could a heard it at the end! You sure that there where no animals hurt in this experiment?

The deeper I go into this genre the more it veers into musique concrete and outsider music. I love it.

I didn't realize you were doing this kind of thing. Cool :) I like when the whistle comes in. I'm enjoying listening to things that aren't musical in the way that songs normally are - this fits the bill.

Kinda makes me think of riding on a train when that bell comes in. I'm always impressed with the slothcore stylings.
@elesimo Feb 2022
Yeah, this was fun! Love the gritty noises and the swelling white noise in the background. Really cool song!

Dang, I was hoping you were writing a song about an actual numbers station -- you know, the ones that send encoded messages to spies and the like. (If you don't know I will happily fill you in.) But of course there's no such thing as too much #slothcore.
I don't hear words, and the pauses are too irregular to be Morse code. Actually it almost reminds me of what would happen if you had an intermittent open circuit that randomly connected to . . . whatever the noise source is.

This is kind of like when you're about to nut, but they keep pausing too often so it doesn't happen, and then they just say "not in the mood", and all you hear is white noise in your head.
So I would say this piece is creative and has a meaning. Its a masterpiece.

This is like listening to a robot speak aloud in code and it's weirdly fascinating. Prime slothcore!
