The title comes from Pulitzer winner Art Spiegelman, author of Maus, commenting on its being banned by a Tennessee school board for telling the truth about Nazism.
Rhythm track and mangled harp solo courtesy the Kaoss Pad, bass courtesy the Moog.
They're white and they're fragile, they're bitter and they're cold
But they melt down into tears when the truth is told
Masks give them the vapors, fair elections terrify
Dr. Fauci makes them shiver, vaccinations make them cry
Your head is in the sand
And your gun is in your hand
Reporting of the news you won't allow
Classic books are banned
Gays and atheists are damned
You squalling babies, who's the snowflake now?
They're terrified of trans kids, run screaming from a Maus
They're homicidal maniacs if you run past their house
They're scared of pizza shops and they're scared of butterflies
They're even scared of air -- they see chemtrails in the skies
They act like animals if you teach them evolution
Peaceful protesters make them fear a revolution
So scared of refugees that they have to build a wall
Afraid of their kids learning anything at all

Love how cutting the lyrics are in this one and couldn't agree more with the sentiment. The backing is so dark and dystopian. It works really well with the lyrical anger.

Interesting sounds layered in here. What a world we live in. The vocal matches the lyric well.

So well phrased. I never heard them called snowflakes. But the explanation suits.
Lyrics - straight on, interesting, and well phrased. I like the music, not sure what it is, but it makes the song. I liked the voice modulation too. #tit4tat

"Afraid of their kids learning anything at all," wow what a harsh and powerful final line. I think it's the Moog sound, provides a dark and textured undertone that's perfect for this song. And the harp solo gives it a frenetic and fearful quality, a musical equivalent of, "WTF is going to happen next?" You know how I like the biting lyrics and you've got me beat here, hands down :-)

Yeah, I get this feeling too. I like the aggressiveness of this song and the vocoder voice. And the otherwise very minimal production with lots of crushed bits. Definitely not for snowflakes to listen to!
@ampersandman Feb 2022
Love the direct words that hit the spot. The mangled harmonica loop running throughout is super cool.

#tit4tat time you can take a horse to water! people hear what they want etc etc. i guess you can bury you head but it dont change the truth! well said and done! the sounds are chaotic enough to make a point

Found this song on the recent "political song" forum thread! The lyricism is masterful and the overall sound you've crafted is super cool and experimental, reminiscent of some European avant-EDM artists I've been hearing from the past decade. The synth sound that kicks in after the third stanza has a sweet vibe to it. Great piece!
@tseaver Feb 2022
Nice write! I thought about them shooting up the pizza shop even before I got that far.
@mahtowin Feb 2022
Great! Important and true words!
@gardeningangel1 Feb 2022
Glad I stumbled onto this one. Great lyrics, cleverly worded. "Run screaming from a Maus" is superb. I like the low-key feeling, no need to scream, the lyrics speak loud enough. That solo in the middle is weird and wonderful, like circuits shorting out... Does Not Compute. The chorus is really catchy.
@caterwauler Feb 2022
Whoa, there are moments when it feels like the bass sound is going to explode.
That part with all the electronic sounds expanding is both strange and brilliant. For a brief moment, I got the impression that I was listening to some mad chiptune. Then we were back to the dark atmosphere you had set from the beginning.
As always, powerful lyrics - wonderfully uncompromising, scary at times. Fuck censorship.
@headfirstonly Feb 2022
Love the glitchiness; they might try jamming the signal, but it'll still getting through.
I was delighted to see that thanks to the Streisand effect, Spiegelman's book is now back in the best-seller charts. Which is as it should be. It's a masterpiece (as is Maus 2). I got a song out of this, too.
@marthie Feb 2022
I Like the rocking effect from your chord progression choice. Very relevant message: the lyrics put reality in (snowflake) perspective. Love how you played with the electronic sounds.

So true, really nod my head on n agreement while reading the lyrics. Really like the punky lo-fi electronic vibe, especially that juicy synth bass and those glitchy arpeggios. The vocal production makes me think a bit of The Residents for some reason, a good thing in my book.
@hazydave Feb 2022
That's better -- playback works... Great!
@mikeskliar Feb 2022
Ha, what a great takedown, truer words were never spoken! This vocal-front recording is really effective- those unearthly sounds really provide a nice counterpoint to the craziness of those idiots. So many great lines in there! great work! perfect pay off line-- 'who's the snowflake now'.
@sheilerk Feb 2022
My kids wore out the cover of Maus, between each of them reading it multiple times. Your title drew me in, and the lyrics expound on it very well. This astute commentary on our times is really well put together, and performed.
@humantornado Feb 2022
Good stuff! Has a real punk vibe to it that I like.
@cindyrella Feb 2022
I can't seem to get it to play, but amen to the lyric! They are much more snowflakes and scared of everything. Great write!
