I wrote 2 lines of lyrics that were to be the crux of this lyric. Those 2 lines got binned but these lyrics emerged.
The setting for this story is a speeding train, and I think that could influence the music if someone picked the lyrics up to work on?
David H: I hope I did the words justice with my take on a getaway train song.
Ooops, forgot the gunshots. maybe tomorrow
Get Home To You
(Verse 1)
Be careful what you wish for
It just might come true
I always wanted to be wanted
Now I've got a different view (2)
(Verse 2)
So I boarded a fast train
Last ticket on sale
Kept my head low
As we sped down that rail (2)
(Chorus)
There's a bounty on my head
Says wanted alive or dead
But all I want to do
Is get home to you
Is get home to you (2)
(Verse 3)
I’ve been branded for a crime
That I didn’t do
It weren’t me that fired that gun
I swear this is true (2)
(Chorus)
There's a bounty on my head
Says wanted alive or dead
But all I want to do
Is get home to you
Is get home to you (2)
(Bridge)
I walked in the wrong place at the wrong time
Had the wrong face that fitted the crime
The cops needed a name and now they’ve got mine
Got a shooting squad waiting at the end of this line
(Chorus)
Yes, there's a bounty on my head
Says wanted alive or dead
But all I want to do
Is get home to you
Is get home to you (2)

The song is sweet and lovely, but the harmonica stole it all ! It's bright, deft, restless. It's all action in a nice contrast with the sweet singing. It's like the handgun that a gunfighter swirls around his index before puting it back to its holster.
I wish I could play harp this fast and acurate !

Great classic western movie in song!

What a heavy trainbeat! And lots of things going on in the instrumental, but I am sooooooo happy that the vocals have a great pace. They are not in a hurry, so I have enough time to follow the story. Which is awesome here. Especially the twist close the end xD

Love this, David! Thanks so much for turning it into a song. The music really drives the tension of the lyrics - really like the incessant drums and the harmonica. Thought it had a slight feel of a Steve Earle song

Solid punchy lyric here. (Also, why death penalties result in wrongful deaths)

I'll have a look Simon but it will be next week, busy recording this weekend.

I do that all the time Simon, ha!
This is a very solid lyric, good progression, This might suit Dave Harrington I would ask him to take a look see :-)

Didn't see that coming. It makes for a poignant twist. Verse one set the stage nicely, then you let the story unfold to that shocker of an ending. Nicely written, they read really well, with a definite rhythm that would be easy to add music to. Let me know if you get them muricated. :)
