Apols to @circle (verses) and @iwilleatyou (choruses) for ripping off their vibes..
This is an abridged walk-through of my favourite ever computer game.
A red herring at the bar
shot out a cannon really far
voodoo lady reads your palm
rubber chicken superstar
a sword master in maze
fighting multiple replays
I won the war and the battle
you fight like a highland cattle
on Sea Monkey, well soon we will set sail
there’s no fucking way that we fail
piranha poodles at the door
yellow flowers, hit the floor
take the idol back to base
and put the nail file in the cake
they tried to drown you at the dock
meet the flasher under the clock
carla, Meathook, and Otis
governor give me a kiss
on Sea Monkey, soon we will set sail
there’s no fucking way that we fail

I love how fuzzy everything sounds, and when the sunny synths come in they provide a fantastic pop lift. The chaotic outro is so good!
@thedutchwidows Mar 2022
I love the tone of this - all the fuzz with a distorted vocal works really well. Cool tops for a song too, even if I have no idea what the game is..
@heliosonorous Mar 2022
That warm fuzz tone gives this joyful memories in the sound, nice look back to what was.
@balancelost Mar 2022
Lol my old bass player would love these lyrics. He routinely plays all of them every 2 or 3 years. Doubt you need to apologise for the style, can't copyright a sounds can ya? In any case this is awesome. Super catchy and love the fuzz pop sounds. Right up my alley. The chorus has a hint of the Thom Yorke about it.
@bigmood Feb 2022
Yess, this is the level of really obscure kinda-could-be-a-metaphor lyrics that I love. Kinda reminds me of MGMT with that synth lead, it's great messy punk synthpop. And i LOVE that key change on the hook. I LOVE IT
@tinear Feb 2022
Love the voluminous reverby wall of sound and the driving rhythm of that basic beat.
@thenucleus Feb 2022
Oh yeah this really grooves. Let's see, I love the vocal melody, the floating keyboard part and the off the rails ending.. It has this bouncy spacey energetic feel and the vocal effects sound so damn cool. Wow.
@hanley Feb 2022
Nice nostalgic journey, love that you’ve given the synth a bit of 8-bit crunchiness for added touch. Love it when you give that MS-20 (?) the full treatment and let loose!
@susyblue Feb 2022
Super hooky n as usual superb production n performance. Love all those riffs especially when they overlap with vocals. Sounds like u had fun on this one!
@itneverhappened Feb 2022
Love the super saturated wall of sound-feel. Huge and detailed at the same time. This flows and grooves and rocks! Great guitar work, really like the sounds toward the end, almost like brass instruments.
@lowhum Feb 2022
Hoho, like the crazy kraftwerky pop-synth. Also good music hall cornucopia in the chorus. The lyrics I cannot stop but praise. They slip inside you from any corner like a fast panda anaconda. The end is, well, mighty!
@iwilleatyou Feb 2022
That chorus doesn't sound anywhere near like me. Nice try though. I love the sound of your voice in this. The reverb gives it a nice character.
And sea monkeys rule.
@fonte Feb 2022
Just love the wall of sound on this. So much fuzz but it all feels so warm somehow!? How do you that! Love the delay in the chorus vocal, totally works and makes it all jump out. The verse melody is a corker, very emotive somehow. Again. How do you do that!? lol
@frenchcricket Feb 2022
I am rubber you are glue. Lovely that you remembered the huge C is for Calculus HIT 'You Fight Like a Dairy Farmer'. This is cracking tho. Love the sort of Ride-y/Swervedriver-y guitars, that wild fuzz factory guitar and the epic delay you got on the chorus.
@judypie Feb 2022
Ooooh I haven’t commented on this monkey fest yet! It rocks (obvs) and I have no idea if you did this on purpose because you just can’t get enough monkey business but it totally gives me Monkey Wrench vibes :D ISSA WIN.
@shortdan Feb 2022
This is a bit different! Honestly I don’t think I’d have realised the verse vocal was even you! Particularly like the chorus - slight Queens Of The Stone Age vibes I reckon. Awesome guitar work throughout. Enjoyed it :)
@mikedebenham Feb 2022
How appropriate, you rock like a cow. Love this, the sound and joy of it. Really seeing the big guitar side of Ad this year, and I'm here for it.
@thelowestbitter Feb 2022
look, we all love Magicland Dizzy but we don't all go about writing songs about it. Anyway, this is wondrously fuzzy, so much to like here but that synth line midway through the verses is a particular highlight. Love the chaotic solo-ing at the end too
@jackdawfactories Feb 2022
We share a favourite game! Well, I would probably say that MI2 just edges ahead, but they're both great. This is really fun, and I love the sound of it. Big fuzz delay hours in your house and I love it.
@badgag Feb 2022
Wonderful! I love how rocky it is. Who doesn't love Monkey Island?!
@vainhirvain Feb 2022
Don't know the game, but sounds like a real treat :D Gotta say I LÖÖVE how the vocals sound!
@ddd Feb 2022
Class. These lyrics surfaced some deep memories!
@paulh1237 Feb 2022
The rockkkk chorus was an unexpected treat. Love the synths during the verse to help build it up and some great little bass runs in the background.
@sailingmagpie Feb 2022
Looks like we share a favourite computer game! Well, apart from maybe SWOS. It's all about waiting for ten minutes under water until GT turns weird colours and you get the corpse options.
Love the fuzzy verses with the distant vocals and the way it really opens up in the chorus. That little synth riff is ace. Lyrically, this must be jibberish to anyone that didn't grow up with an Amiga (or equivalent).
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
fantastic soundscape and lovely deep mix! synths are awesome! no idea on games but i really like this!
@halfwayhome Feb 2022
Awesome.
And not just because Monkey Island is indeed the greatest.
Yeah, epic production, around a beautiful melody and chording. Just keeps giving.
@karlsburg25 Feb 2022
Oooo yaaas. Ads you are trying to tickle all my classic indie bones this morning ain't ya ;-) . Love the drive of this one and the fuzz all over it is a real treat. Of course it couldn't stay as straight forward as the verse and the chorus chords are a real departure but works a treat. Ahhhhh 1990 - Liverpool champions and my Mum ran over my guitar. Quite a year that was
@lanasolyluna Feb 2022
Ooh love this one. Reminds me a bit of the Crocodiles first album, which I adore. That kinda weird synth sound that comes in is really fun and quirky. Are we all waxing poetic about the 90s this FAWM?
@actualjulian Feb 2022
Really fun to listen to! Definitely inspired some bedroom dance party vibes over here. I think I spent some time on this Island myself... :) Really nice write. I especially liked the way you were able to build the synths into a full-on electro galactic laser party toward the end. Thanks for sharing. Rock on!
@unpronounceable Feb 2022
This reminds me a lot of an artist called Weekender. Pleasant w/ the fuzz and driving beat. I wanna work out to this :)
@owl Feb 2022
This game was one of my favorites too! :) Love this hazy but driving production. That chorus and riff has an unexpectedly classic rock feel after the shoegazey verses, which is fun. Love the keyboard part, it’s so good, especially when it goes up later and picks up the energy.
@angelinapowersuit Feb 2022
What a production! Just love the coolness of your verse melody. Do I know what you're singing about? No idea. But love all the imagery. Must be a pretty cool game. This just gets more and more fun and full as the song continues, so much to keep my attention.
@vomvorton Feb 2022
That's a lot of noisy fun. I can hear the influences, definitely a good amount of @iwilleatyou rock n roll energy (although you're asking for trouble here, your vocals are never going to match up are they?) and a good amount of @circle fuzz and noisy synths! Not sure I ever actually played much of this game (I was all about the second one, for whatever reason (I guess it was easier to pirate (appropriately?))) but it makes for a fun bunch o' words!
