Feb 2022 electronic dance space samples fawmtronica
I actually managed to make a song for FAWM this year! I can't believe it!
As tradition dictates, I have stuck to my space theme as I find it's the easiest thing to gain inspiration from. I remember reading about Point Nemo a while ago and it was always going to be used for the basis of a FAWM song.
For those of you that are unfamiliar, Point Nemo is a location in the South Pacific that is deemed 'the furthest point from land'. Point Nemo has now become a 'space graveyard' where upon decommissioned spacecraft are laid to rest once they have re-entered the Earth's atmosphere. In fact, it was announced only this week that Point Nemo will be the final resting place for the ISS when it is (hopefully) safely crashed there once the project finally comes to a close in 2031.
I haven't really had much chance to properly mix or master it yet. I'm sure I can do some tweaks down the line.
I'm pleased to have created some new music. It's been too long since I've done it and it feels good. I suppose that's what FAWM is all about!
Big thanks to @sailingmagpie for hosting the song for me

Love the concept - love when the drop hits! Love the detuned bass as it swims like orcas. Not sure you're still on the site to see this comment, but I'm downloading the track :-)

Tomski's got a song woot woot ye! A pleasant surprise indeed. This is remarkably dark, but not in a creepy way. It's super atmospheric and there's a coldness to it, so that pretty much sums up space (or remoteness). Super glitchy stuff. It takes me back to 2001 with massive Autechre-style vibes and melodic minimalism.

Loving this. The drums bouncing around the stereo spectrum, the moody pads, the slightly weird sounding sample. Then all of a sudden, we've blasted off into the galaxy. A stone cold banger. Overall though, I think my favourite part is the hosting.

Great job making a song! There must be more where that came from. Space is vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big, after all. The skittish beat really conveys a feeling of that unknown vastness, and when the drop hits, it's a cathartic feeling.
