Music is coming when I’m back to regular internet! Right now I’m at my beachfront cabin on Haida Gwaii for the week (hence the inspiration).
The life we live has tumbled me like a stone
Whirled along the edges of the tidal zone
Worn away all my sediments
Polished up my brightest bits to diamonds
I’ve ground some edges and exposed some
veins
But I’d throw myself back in and do it all again.
Peel away my layers to the pearl below
Iridescence that needs no sun to glow
Agates frosted with milky lines
Abalone etched with rare designs
I’m as simple as a moonsnail’s swirl
And there’s no doubt about it
I’m your low tide girl
Rain or shine you’ll find me on the shore
Hunting for what wasn’t there before
Fill my hands with the finest shells
Driftwood with exotic smells
Don’t need no money, I don’t need any gold
Just some flotsam and some jetsam
Till the day I grow old.

This is wonderfully visual and expressive. I can almost smell the salt and the seaweed. I was going to point out the lines I especially liked, but the truth is there are too many of them, but these I love:
"I’m as simple as a moonsnail’s swirl
And there’s no doubt about it
I’m your low tide girl"
Super good write. I'd love to hear it when you join it with your music.
Let me know :)
