Unusual for me, this one - an unabashed love song with no cynical undercurrent! Very rough so far, but you get the idea.
WILLOW
Weeping willow, soaking those tears from the rain
I’ve been stalling, crawling, barely in league with myself
How can it be you choose to be here?
For you don’t keep score of my failings
You don’t walk away from the pain
Your liquid eyes clearing the night
Give a home to the hopeless again…
Kiss me, lips please, I’m dreaming after the fall
While you simply gift me grace here
You alone make me walk tall
Patching my brain, all the burns you contain
And the verse of this songbird
Uncluttered with words
Is a gift more resplendent than this man deserves
Waiting, plaintive, painting love hearts in chalk on a wall
I’ve been violent in silence, the things I will do to myself
Would shame a saint, but you don’t grow faint

"For you don’t keep score of my failings" is such a beautiful declaration of love. So beautiful.

Why haven't I listened here before? Okay, very effective minimalist piano, supporting but never overshadowing. Lyrics are seriously good and the chorus is a killer. Applause!

This really is beautiful. The minor key is an interesting touch for a love song, but so perfectly right for the lyrics and sentiment.
I loved the line "kiss me, lips please..." And, the chorus is so touching.
A wonderful song.

This is lovely. Again. Of course I hear these songs from the moment they start up in my attic and they just keep coming! Your voice reminds me a bit of Gilbert O' Sullivan in this.

Interesting choice of a minor key for your love song. Plaintive tenderness indeed. 'Liquid eyes clearing the night' is a beautiful line. Lovely chord progressions.

a love song indeed but melancholy and rich in splendiferous images. this line especially - Waiting, plaintive, painting love hearts in chalk on a wall!! I think this is one of my favs you have written so far, Andy!
