This pretty much fell out of my head, and a lot of it was improvised. I was playing the chords and singing what ever came to mind whilst recording it as a voice note. i then listened back and wrote down the bits i liked and mashed it into what you can hear now! totally dont even know what im banging on about to be fair, but i think i will deffo come back to this one and try and make it make more sense. oh and I have never swore in a song before, so thats new!
Edit - I already dislike the F bomb in this. So I’ve rewritten that line as ‘it’s just becoming hard sometimes’ for now
Looking out over the coast
I can see the line
what if the ocean is a ghost
living in your eyes
My heart beats fast
in time with the night
blurring the lines
between the sea and the sky
Walked an unknown distance
til the sand turned to fire
the night was suffocating
but im not tired
My heart beats fast
in time with the night
blurring the lines
between the sea and the sky
Im not running, im just stealing time
its just so fucking hard sometimes
My heart beats fast
in time with the night
blurring the lines
between the sea and the sky
blurring the lines
between the sea and the sky

So I see that you start off your songs pretty brilliantly, so then you're just patching them up after that. Really lovely take. Love the chords.

Excellent improvised-ish creation here! The double-strums add great energy!

Those flourishes! Those sus chords! That vocal melody! That modulation in the bridge! All around this is great, and a great snapshot of this character in my mind who I can imagine myself becoming and getting lost in this world.

This song was meant to be the way it just came out. Those are usually the really good ones. Love you confident guitar strumming and those delicious chords. Beautiful vocals. Nice open lyrics that people may see their own stories in. Really enjoyable listen.

I'm not entirely sure what it means either, but it's an extremely poetic mystery. It seems to have a lot of longing in it, and I like the understated imagery. I thoroughly enjoyed the vocal and guitar - they have a wide open quality to them, kind of like the sea and the sky. :)

Very nice. Create such an active atmosphere. Beautiful vocal and the lyrics were super. You swear so beautifully. :)

This had a lovely Alanis Morrisette quality to me. Very beautiful and the lyrics are very hard hitting for me. Thank you.

Another corker. Your sense of melody is amazing. Theres something nostalgic about this that reminds me of being a kid and I’m not sure what it is. Lovely song

Some lovely lyrics here CE. Especially "what if the ocean is a ghost living in your eyes" - beautiful stuff. Sounds a bit open tuning? :)
@mariekevinkmusic Feb 2022
Lurvely! Is it open tuning? Feels very nicely spacious.

Gorgeous! The line “what if the ocean was a ghost…” is just beautiful, but all the lyrics are just super well crafted and poetic. The guitar progression and some of those ornaments you’re playing kind of remind me of the Indigo Girls. The melody and performance are excellent. Great job!

very nice Celine :-)

That key really is great for your voice! Always love the imagery of the ocean as it takes me back to when I lived by the sea. Lovely melody. This is a keepppeerrr!

Great stuff! It makes total sense to me. I love the line "beats fast in time with the night". And you're so lucky if you can get to the sea. I am seriously landlocked where I live and I miss the ocean.

"What if the ocean is a ghost living in your eyes". I have no idea what that means but its so evocative and beautiful, LOVE IT! Sometimes words just sound good next to each other. Musically lovely as always. Another beaut Celine.
