I know hair metal isn’t so popular now, but I grew up on it. Still love it. Nothing quite like a metal ballad and the breathless wait for the chorus and the screaming guitar solo
Don’t think you know how it feels
Wearing my heart on my sleeve
To be the one holding on for love
Just watching you play the field
Why can’t you see
What it’s doing to me
Just waiting for you to see me
Just waiting for you to believe
I want you for the rest of my life
N Waiting cuts like a velvet knife
Don’t know how I can carry on
Watching you with those other guys
They’ll never love you like I do
Hate that you believe their lies
Why can’t you see
What it’s doing to me
Just waiting for you to see me
Just waiting for you to believe
I want you for the rest of my life
N waiting cuts like a velvet knife
oooh the sweet pain of you
Cuts like a velvet knife

Great hair metal take, I can definitely see this fitting that style, the "N waiting" is a great stylistic add that would go with this genre, I can hear a slow ballad building to an anthemic chorus. #tit4tat.

Thank you for the kind comments

Love the imagery of the hook here. The theme is familiar to most of us, we’ve probably all been there at one time or another, and you’ve captured the sheer frustration and desperation of it really effectively. The “oooh the sweet pain of you” is a great finale lyric and I can just hear the metal scream of the delivery!

Another strong pointed sharp lyric, That Why can't you see ... is so lovely and anticipatory, as it builds to what has to be (when music added) a huge cuts like a velvet knife chorus. Great imagary in that too. Well done.

Hair metal is not popular now? Don't tell that @guatecoop and @metalfoot! But yes, this is exactly the kind of cheesy words you need for these songs. It could work with and pop rock stuff imho. I like the velvet knife. #tit4tat

'Waiting cuts like a velvet knife' - haha, what a line! This would SO work as a hair metal number. I can see the headbanging and the fists in the air as I read the lines. Nice one! #tit4tat

Very heartfelt feeling of angst comes through. Wonderful structure and sentiment. Strong lyric!

Interesting. The pain that also soothes because it's familiar...and it's better than feeling nothing.

Great rhythm to the lyrics. And I think not just hair metal either. These would work really well in a number of styles. Funk is one that springs to mind. Similar era...
