A simple country song, the story of someone who idolises musicians, and whilst they cannot play music themselves, they use alcohol as a way to relate to, and honour their musical heroes.
Tryin to keep my drinkin, to only days that end in “y”,
or maybe not drink every day, and just drink every night,
For me one drink is too many, but one hundred is just just a bit,
See mamma taught me how to live, she ain't taught me how to quit
---
All my favourite singers they are drinkers,
All the best musicians they are drunks,
Well me I cannot sing, or I can't play instruments,
So drinking’s how toast the ones I love
---
My favourite beers the next one,
or a whiskey on the rocks,
tequila ain’t the answer but it sure is worth a shot
It only takes me one drink now to get me truely sloshed,
it' the 15th or the 16th - I can't remember which one is was.
--- Chorus
If I don’t drink then waking up is the best I’ll feel all day,
I know booze don’t solve my problems but either does lemonade
See drinking keeps me lean, leaning on barmaids and kitchen sinks,
drinking responsibly, to me, means not spilling your drink
--- Chorus

Instant classic - love the song and the lyrics. Love the little jokes in there on the 2nd verse.

“Tequila ain’t the answer but it sure is worth a shot” - ha! That’s great. I love a pun. Also love “booze don’t solve my problems but either does lemonade.” Lots of good stuff here, nice job!

I'll drink to that, cheers!

Haha! Was drawn in by the title and the lyrics did not disappoint. It’s a pretty little country song that works with the theme so well. The double tracked vocals and delicate harmonies works nice with your voice. It’s crying out for a lap steel!
