Feb 2022 valentine ukulele challenge everyukulele
This one experiments with the one note melody challenge as well as answering the call of the Ukulele challenge. For the Ukulele challenge, I have seven, so used two as a percussion instruments, and put a cello bow on another.
This is the month of my wife's birthday and valentines, so these lyrics came out about gift finding/giving, which I'm not so good at doing.
Instrument list
3 soprano (one kid's one and two antiques from my grandparents)
1 concert
1 electro acoustic tenor
1 baritone (tuned like a soprano/concert that I found in a trash heap)
1 electric acoustic baritone
I don’t know what I can buy for her
She already told me what she wants
I rack my brain to remember some clue
Was it something old, was it something new?
I know I wrote it down on a piece of paper
or maybe it was a memo on the phone
I better figure it real soon
or tonight I’Il be alone
Maybe an internet search
Maybe a trip to the store
will trip my memory
which has fallen flat just before
Wandering through the mall
Store after store, piles of things
Overwhelmed by it all
Anxiety is what it brings
Sweat dripping, feeling the time crunch
I give up and start to drive
I started just after lunch
but now it’s nearly five
Don’t know whats right, too many choices
Embarrassed to call a friend
afraid of helpful voices as I’m
turning right around the bend
Pretty soon the evening is here
As you might guess
In case it wasn’t clear
there’s no gift to honor that pretty dress
I massage her shoulders
ready to break the news
she says that feels amazing
let’s take off our shoes
it’s a perfect gift we’ll relive
I said sure, yeah, that was the plan
My spirits breathe out and give
It was always in my hands
whispers in my ear a gift is not romance
going out would just make us poor
so we put on music to dance
never made it out the door

Montuno ukulele??? Yes please. I'm quite fine with that. I like how you did the reverb on the solo uke, it's got a really good catherdral-y openness to it

Fun Latin feel. A loving evening at home sounds like the perfect gift.

Delightful! Wonderful job incorporating all the ukuleles into the song - the Latin rhythms and riffs sound lovely. The lyrics are really clever, and your delivery is great. Really enjoyed listening!

Another great listen from misterdemp...it was always in your hands, indeed! I love the layered uke sounds, supplying counter melodies, ghostly strumming, and percussion to boot. The coda was the cherry on top!

Wow, this is really cool. Congrats for combining the one note challenge with the everyukulele challenge. This doesn't sound forced either, which is great. Nice job!
And that's not even talking about the really clever lyrics!

I like this lots. I like Latin ukelele and the riffy bits - and the choral section with flamenco is great - could have gone on a lot longer would have happily listened

The combination of ukes gives an Eastern European overall sound to this one! Congrats on doing the week 2 challenge!

This is so effective!! The use of ukes give it an Old Bazaar of Cairo feel, perfect for the topic of present hunting! I love the interwining uke melodies and the rhythm underneath, really keeping those verses interesting under the one-note melody! Really impressed with this, well done!
