Feb 2022 zecoopdrums maxaholic kitchen-sink-rock
I recommend going in blind with this one. I have certainly never had more fun writing and producing a song. NEVER in what, like 30 years. It wrote itself, could not be stopped. So I make no apologies. However, this song owes a debt to the maximalism thread in the forums and to @dasbinky in particular who serendipitously penned the lines that with a light dusting became chorus and bridge here.
And for the record, I'd like to see all of you maxaholics out there take a stab at this concept and write one. Not having to make decisions on what *shouldn't* be on it was very freeing and the whole thing came together in a day (and I did plenty of EQ nonsense to try to separate things). All told, there are 35 tracks. Many thanks to @zecoop for his 128bpm drum track which I used a large chunk of.
Hey Folks
My February's no longer dark
Yeah, that's right- it's true that due to FAWM
the darkest month has got its own little spark
and I know that I should really sit down and write that
cause I'm falling further behind
I know it's just a demo, but I wanna take it to the max
I put
all the things on all the tracks
all the things on all the tracks
all the things on all the tracks
oh yeah, oh yeah yeah yeah
Alright now first we'll start it out with a four piece band
(and marimba!)
and then let's try a couple organs,
Who can choose? Aw hell, let's keep em both, and then
of course, piano chords to flesh it out
(it says here it's a Steinway)
and then climbing horns and strings
and then we will try out every single synth
All the things on all the tracks
(every little thing)
all the things on all the tracks
all the things on all the tracks
oh yeah, oh yeah yeah yeah wooo
Uhhh, oh, wait just a second,
no, no, I'm- I'm serious.
Wait right here.
I'll be right back, see.
Uh, I've got to, uh, put another thing
on another track.
All the things on all the tracks
all the things on all the tracks
all the things on all the tracks
oh yeah, oh yeah yeah yeah wooo
(neverending story)
Oh wait, I think, I think I found another place.
I think I can fit another track in here.
Just, just.....right, right, right around here.
If I could just get-
(explosion)
(whistling)

This is great. I thoroughly enjoyed it. What an innovative idea for lyrics. Really entertaining and good music too, in spite of all the tracks and how big this gets. Great melody, especially in the chorus. Great song!
@wylddandelyon Mar 2022
Oh, this is fun. I think I'd make the whistle at the end a little louder. Other than that, sometimes it's hard to hear all the different tracks, but that's perfectly in accord with the song, so I wouldn't change it. I've just barely started working with different tracks, but I can certainly see the appeal.

@beacon Mar 2022
Love the whistling at the end of the song! The chorus spanks. Very fun.
@tamsnumber4 Mar 2022
I LOVE THIS....that chorus is EPIC!
This couldn't be more relatable...what an amazing production and I felt like all the things were on all the tracks!!!! Thanks for the smile, this was awesome!!!!
@klaus Mar 2022
So funny. The first verse and even the first chorus was like "Oh, a sincere meta Fawm song!" but the line about marimba caught me by surprise and after that, I was just smiling and laughing more and more till the end. The chorus melody with its dotted rhythms sounds majestic ( and pompous ) while being extremely catchy too. I like this one. :)
@richaaaay Mar 2022
How can you not enjoy this. The concept, the music, the commentary. It’s all great. What tops it all of though is to know how much fun you had with this. Having read that in the liner notes I could really sense that being the case in your performance. That’s what it’s all about. Well done…
@jeff9 Feb 2022
Ha! What a ride it is to listen to this. Hilarious and brilliant. A whole box of chocolates in one sitting! Delicious.
@vomvorton Feb 2022
This is so joyous! ALL the things! Love the ending, a song like this NEEDS an explosion IMO.
@dudachris Feb 2022
I totally get how easy it is to lose so much time on a song like this. SO WELL DONE!!
I heard this because of @coolparadiso's podcast. TY both for making Februaries better than they would be without you <3
@cleanshoes Feb 2022
This made me laugh out loud. What a celebration for the maximalists of FAWM! I don't count myself among you, but I most certainly tip my hat. Well done.
@toms Feb 2022
O. M. G. This is AMAZING. favorite thing from FAWM so far. Unbelievable. What a mixing nightmare!
@karlsburg25 Feb 2022
Really loved this from start to finish. This sums me up perfectly. And i adore the harmony line of all the things on all the tracks. Brilliant work
@mikehex Feb 2022
What a great song, that chorus feels so free, liberated, Triumphant! It sings out that we were always, always, meant to have all the things on all the tracks
Why have we ever deprived ourselves? Oh yeah. Boom.
@radiobenedetto Feb 2022
This is a hoot. Great concept “all the things!” I’ve NEVER done any of that, lol. Love the voice over parts. Boom goes the dynamite.
@sw1n3flu Feb 2022
Came here cos of Metalfoot.... holy shit yes yes yes!
All the things on the tracks.
THAT IS ALL.
@headfirstonly Feb 2022
This is fun and WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HEAD? This is my default production approach! I feel seen. And it *is* tremendous fun throwing several dozen tracks at a song. Come join us on the Dark Side...
Gloriously over the top, exactly as it should be. But it's also damn catchy; "All the things..." is a killer hook, man. And absolutely on point.
@metalfoot Feb 2022
The hook on "all the things on all the tracks" is enough to make this song catchy, but the metaFAWMishness of it all makes this a keeper.
@bethdesombre Feb 2022
OK, so every since I listened to this, I've been bopping around the house singing "all the things on all the tracks" . . .
@bethdesombre Feb 2022
Meta! So much fun!! That second verse with everything getting added in . . . And with such a catchy chorus.
@fearlessflight2014 Feb 2022
Yes! I can see why this was recommended. I just spat out my kombucha and eventually was dancing around me kitchen. The spirit of FAWM in a single song!
@judypie Feb 2022
Hahahahaha, ok so I think we’re all in agreement this is the best song of Fawm this year yeah?
@sapient Feb 2022
This is pure musical theatre... It's like one of those magnificent set pieces that The Muppet Show was so good at.
All it needs is someone chasing some chickens across the front of it...
35 tracks? Was it the mixing nightmare I suspect it should have been? Becuase it sounds AWESOME :D
@zecoop Feb 2022
OH MY GOD...... THIS ROCKS!! Too bad I can't relate at all.... maybe someday, ahem... What a fun song. I had increasingly huge smiles on my face as it went. It is just brilliant and so much fun!!
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Such a fun song to listen to and hear the components. 35 tracks! I cannot imagine a way to even proceed with that task. Major Goodness.
@celineellis Feb 2022
best FAWM track ever! such a catchy little thing too - i will be that person at the end whistling!!!
@nagavaeoe Feb 2022
Heh! Amazing! I'm sure most of us fawmers can relate. "I know it's just a demo, but I wanna take it to the max"... totally. Although I'm managing to restrain myself for the most part this year.
This is so much fun. Incredible work, man!
And the explosion at the end. Too much stuff on too many tracks!
@rayboneor Feb 2022
Holy crap--I actually laughed out loud when you got to the "all the things" part. I mean, not because it was funny, though it is, but because it's so effing full of joy, and because it sounds so glorious. Surely the greatest meta-fawm song ever. The ending had me belly laughing for real
@ajna1960 Feb 2022
Hysterical and just perfect FAWM music :)
No wonder you had so much fun writing it, and yes you have me wanting to create one too now.
@ampersandman Feb 2022
I only can second what the other comments said: such a blast.
@coolparadiso Feb 2022
oh so much fun but that maybe belies how darned good this is! Oh man reminisces of Bowie and so many others maybe Styx. Honestly this marvelous!, no wonder you had fun! If i can i want this to lead off my next podcast!
@taracraig Feb 2022
Holy smokes this is fun! Perfect FAWM anthem. So stink’n catchy. I was literally whistling to myself as the song faded out and then you came in with the whistle.
@johncrossman Feb 2022
This is a riot. I had a blast listening, and your joy really comes across. And catchy as all get out. Whistling off into the distance along with you...
@dasbinky Feb 2022
Love what you did with the build here! Super catchy tune and wonderful overkill. Doesn't even sound gratuitous! :)
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
I feel attacked by this relatable content. This is brilliant! It is FAWM turned to 11.
@nadine Feb 2022
These lyrics are so relatable! Exactly my thoughts I'm having during songwriting. 35 tracks? Thanks still manageable. OK that escalated quickly.
@bandybum Feb 2022
Ah fabulous! Great, playful lyric, delightful instrumentation and vocals. Sweet song and arrangement. One to proud of for sure. Cracking work :)
@majordanby Feb 2022
Haha! This is super clever and hilarious. It had me giggling all the way through. So true! Haha!
Amazingly put together by the way. I know it’s a comedy song but it’s straight up brilliant. Ben Folds would be proud.
@axl Feb 2022
The first FAWM meta song I’ve heard this year and it’s an earworm. Brillant chorus. And… I love the instrumentation. Yes I do. And that Steinway sounds great.
