Feb 2022 blues reverb rock surf instrumental vocals
I was going to take tonight off but...that didn't happen. Glad because I had fun with this one.
Last year I was turned on to this amazing group from Texas called Khruangbin.
My friend invited me to see them at the Greek Theater in December and I was an instant fan. I love them. Check them out if you haven't heard them.
So I wanted to write a song like them. This came out good! I captured their vibe. It's cool.
One thing I did differently was leave in a rhythm guitar track with the melody/lead guitar. I like it since it fills out the sound a lot. The guitars were recorded thru a 57 mic'd close on the cone of my Ampeg Gemini 2x12. Reverb is the Mr. Black Eterna pedal. The guitar is a Ernie Ball Music Man Albert Lee model. Fender P bass recorded direct into Apollo.
The title just flew into my head when I posted a clip to Instagram.

The music feels fresh and effortless.

Love the spacious sound you created. Great tones on the rhythm and lead guitars.
Nice backing rhythm too.
The simple short vocal adds a lot. Nice sounding tune, well done.

This is my kind of song. Sparse drums and bass setting up and empty canvas for the guitar to just do its thing. Nice singing and definitely not too wordy. One word less and it would lose all its effect. Love the end too.

Super sound. Sometimes the best music is made when you don't want too. Very nice setup. Love the vocals.

This was really fun to listen to. I love khruangbin, even if I can’t spell it. Makes me want to sing a melody on top, but the atmosphere you created is right on par with their sound. Really catchy listen and impressive that you were able to catch their sound

I still need to check out that group, but this is a great vibe! All the tonal qualities are on point. And the vocal part fits perfectly. So much feeling for just two words. Nicely done.
