I was aiming for the style of a specific 1990s band I like. I didn't exactly hit the sound I had in mind, but it's still a nice pop song.
Drop my feet in the river.
Left every wildfire down the road.
Haven’t seen you in forever.
Said you’d return, but never showed.
You were the seventh wonder,
The answer to the riddles of the world,
All in one.
Am I the only lover who’s left to wonder
Where it went wrong,
Could it have been saved?
These are the pages
(Living through them back and forward)
These are the pages we’re written in
These are the pages
(Living through them back and forward)
These are the pages we’re written in
Though fading now with time
Why can’t I wake up from this daydream?
Still got five hundred miles to go.
Will I never stop asking the same thing,
As if these lonely hills would know?
When a mind is free to wander
It drifts toward a place that’s in the sun
(In the sun)
Am I the only lover who’s left to wonder
Where it went wrong,
Could it have been saved?
These are the pages
(Living through them back and forward)
These are the pages we’re written in
These are the pages
(Living through them back and forward)
These are the pages we’re written in
Though fading now with time
These are the pages
(Living through them back and forward)
These are the pages we’re written in

Most definitely worthy of that full-production tag. That vocoder I can hear backing up the verses is making me very happy. This is definitely its own thing, to the point that I can't identify a specific band that this sounds like you're overtly paying homage to. That's how it should be, I reckon. I really like this one.
And "These are the pages we’re written in" is such a great line, metaphor, *and* framing device.

Nice! I like theme and the post verse? prechorus? vocals talk back...All good! Smashing chorus. I really like the organ/guitar solo?
