Feb 2022 girl-with-guitar acoustic-one-take easyshed
EasyShed's been popping up a lot lately, and I'm feeling weirdly sentimental about it. To clarify, I feel sentimental about an Australian shed manufacturer*. A mist gathers in my eye when I visit their website and there's not even a passing mention of their impressive catalogue of song co-writing credits. They've moved on, so why can't I? *sniff* Anyway, here's to the good times.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* brief backstory: spam accounts “sign up” for FAWM all the time and usually they get zapped pretty quickly, but somehow EasyShed was around long enough for someone to write a song and tag them as a collaborator, which kicked off a long line of EasyShed collaborations, which led to actual direct contact with EasyShed to let them know what was happening, which led to them responding back. I was at the tail end of the collabs so all the good easy/shed puns were already taken, but I wrote one about woodshedding with another songwriter who makes it “easy to ‘shed” (kind of a stretch but who cares). Anyway, that was 2019 and it’s still the gift that keeps giving, apparently.
This one goes to EasyShed
Wherever you may be
Only with us one year
But in our hearts for eternity
And when our children’s children
Come together and sing your song
They’ll have 30-some to choose from
And your legacy lives on
So rest easy, EasyShed
And we will praise your name
Ever since the day you came here
Things haven’t been the same
It’s hard to know just what to say
That hasn’t yet been said
So I’ll just raise a glass and say
Rest easy, EasyShed
Yeah this is amazingly written about easyshed! Your singing is beautiful and I really think that someone outside of fawm would think that easyshed is a colloquialism or something serious! Very well done
Wow, such a sincere song, vocal, melody and guitar playing, all about a spam account from a few years ago. I had listened before i read the back story and was initially imagining that Easy Shed might have been a pet or something like that. the power of song and sentiment blows me away! #titfortat
top tribute to a great story / FAWM legend. that song makes me sentimental about it too as it capture something of the great spirit of FAWM. great that it still has life! very enjoyable.
Ah, what a gorgeous tribute. (-: Yes, that EasyShed event was hilarious, and so full of - dare I say it - love - coupled with dazzling creativity.
A pity EasyShed won't hear your song (unless of course someone sends it to them ;) ). Wonderful melody and vocals.
@nancycunning Feb 2022
Oh, my goodness. That melody and your voice and guitar are so heartbreakingly sincere and lovely. I think you could do a whole FAWM writing lyrics to that tune...
@regis Feb 2022
#shedcore for life.
@colgoo Feb 2022
Nice song, and thanks for sharing the backstory.
@cblack Feb 2022
EasyShed will forever live in our hearts. Bless this song. :)
I too came after the EasyShed phenomenon, but I can get a glimpse of it through this wonderful song. Beautiful writing and playing, and I see that right now, you can get 3 free accessories for a limited time only!
LOL!! I came across my Easy Shed song recently!
Your song brought back a fun memory!
@fiddlerblick80 Feb 2022
This could almost be an Irish lullaby, by the melody and lilting vocal. However it'd probably have to include death somewhere and not a backyard product but you know...
@sheslin Feb 2022
I am totally missing the inside joke here, but your song is truly lovely and sounds like a timeless classics folk song. A beautiful melody beautifully sung - rising at all the right times and really making me miss EasyShed too :D
@keithcuts Feb 2022
Are we really doing this again?!
Lovely tribute *applause
@jacobeverettwallace Feb 2022
RIP EasyShed. LOL. On the real though, this is quite a lovely and emotive song. I really enjoyed the picking. Nicely done!
@erbaer Feb 2022
I remember EasyShed like it was only yesterday. No one will forget to remember where they were when they heard.
@nateger Feb 2022
Wow, love the timeless folky fingerpicking and singing on this! I too also feel sentimental for EasyShed even though I just heard of them. Rest easy, EasyShed is great. Fun and honest - I love how much joy is in this tune :)
The most fun spam FAWM ever had, and probably will remain as such. It brought a whole community together around the simple act of being goofy and having fun, while making the best of a silly reality here. The songs were great, their response was great (even if they have forgotten) and it is nice to know some of us will never forget. Beautiful, touching and Easy to listen to. Thanks for this tribute! <insert moment of silence> ;)
@jtsteam Feb 2022
I have no idea what EasyShed is but you've made me feel sentimental about it too. Whatever happened to EasyShed? We'll miss you. Nice tune anyway!
