Kind of an experimental song of loosely playing the chords to a famous song on an acoustic guitar on the first track. Then singing an improvised story of how I changed the strings the night before in one take on a second track. Then a light bit of mixing in mono.
All right, 10 songs to go, were gonna do this!
Almost changed my strings the other day
they were getting so dead, I hadn't changed
them since the Obama Administration
but, I decided to change them
last night, by the light of the aquarium
I actually forgot how and I broke a peg
so I was screwed, for a while
until I looked an found an extra peg in a drawer
it didn't have a dot on it though
so it didn't match the rest
(but, uh) but now my guitar sounds so much better
I feel like playing more and maybe writing some songs
even if I have to rip off the girl from Impanema
but they chime, well listen to them ring
I can't imagine anything more inspiring, to write
I feel like writing some new songs
(turning the page)
and maybe stealing a bunch of chords from
(one more second)
a (pause) other song(s)
because in the end it's something you did
you could have sampled Led Zeppelin II
(but I almost did anyway)
and the new strings they just sound okayyyy
the new strings they're more than just okay
I haven't changed them for...
maybe since I saw Dylan at the Northrop
the night that Obama was elected
and those 2016-post-years were hell on strings
I used to bash the hell out of my guitar every single night
but now, in the new environment everything is mellow
so I'll try and explore some more chord progressions
and know that these new strings
will make everything sound better
better
better
better
better
better
better
better
New strings, wow, yeah, I love the new strings
(instrumental)
Ahhh, I feel like writing another song
almost changed my...
they were getting pretty dead
I hadn't changed them since Obama was elected
and I was at that Bob Dylan concert

The guitar sounds good. The broken peg. That's a real fear. The first time I changed strings I didn't remove the peg but fished the guitar strings through from the bottom. The snobby guy at the guitar store had a good laugh over that one. I'm trying to figure out what "Borrowed Tune" you sampled from. Sounds like this was fun to record. "Those 2016-post-years were hell on strings." Love it.

Definitely sounds great with the new strings. Thats a long time to wait to change them. Though i think ive gone 10 years on one of mine. The Obama admin? I LOL'd at that. very nice stream.

Joe. Your stream of consciousness folk songs have been a great influence on my songwriting, and I have somewhat adopted the practice. This song is more than Just OK.
