Lyrics only for now.
Rags to Riches
I've gone rags to riches a time or two
Went riches to rags the time I went with you
I lost my money, you broke my heart
I'm back up on my horse
I wonder where you are
I've gone rags to riches a time or two
Went riches to rags the time I went with you
I made a trade, I made a new pile
I been thinking 'bout you this whole while
I've gone rags to riches a time or two
Went riches to rags the time I went with you
My memory palace is starting to crack
I think about you, Baby, Want the rags all back
I've gone rags to riches a time or two
Went riches to rags the time I went with you
Gone rags to riches a time or two
I'd trade riches for rags to get to stay with you
I've gone rags to riches a time or two
Went riches to rags the time I went with you

Nice backdrop. Third to last line says it all. Heartwarming and maybe heartbreaking too…

These are great lyrics. They just roll off the tongue. What a creative way to write about longing for a lost love. I hope you also create music and a great melody for these fine words. They deserve it.

"I've gone rags to riches a time or two
Went riches to rags the time I went with you"
Masterful couplet. This would make a great rock song or even a country wail!

I think this would work great as a rockabilly song! The lines have swing and attitude in the meter - I was finger-snapping along as I read!

Nice, i like the little internal rhymes! Good concept well structured and detailed! The repetition is just right!
