Feb 2022 instrumental classical string-quartet
I've gotten a bit into writing string quartets over the last year. I can't play any bowed string instruments, so it's all virtual. Slightly regretting the 12 year old decision to quit violin and even more regretting allowing my 9 year old self to be convinced to quit cello to take up violin.

This is beautiful. The parts have their own role and sounds--even texturally they have their own place and function. Moves along in many different directions, seemingly physically moving from one location to the next. Excellent song!

This is so cool! I'm enjoying the contrasts of the long bowed notes with the more folk-dance sections. You do get some really rich sounds with those virtual instruments!

have to agree that virtual strings have come a long way since I worked with them. This is a beautiful piece! I love the lines where the strings swoop upward - can't remember what that's called but it adds a lot to this!

Superb string writing! The whole thing has this moody classical / tango fusion feel, like Astor Piazzolla.
@cubizm Feb 2022
The movements are clear and each bring a mood. This is sophisticated piece.

No cats were harmed in the making of this piece!
It's a great addition to your song list. Can you do this with words/singing too? It would be some kind of chamber song?

I knew it'd be difficult for me to write with much insight for this genre, so I just sat back in my chair and closed my eyes and listened.
Wow this is all VST!? Amazing arranging and playing! Whatever sounds you're using sound awesome, so rich and full and warm/bright.
Virtual strings have come a long way! You really put something beautiful together here. So smooth during sections like at 1:17, and then perfectly rhythmic with all the plucks and pizz in other spots. Love how you combine the different instruments, yeah that section at :29-1:16 is so well done. Also, i really hear how they got the attack right on these instruments, whoever made these - that higher stringed melody is darting and quick and intense, but it still sounds like an actual person playing the strings and not how sometimes virtual instruments can come in kinda harsh and artificial sounding.
Oy, I'm rambling now, but this just really sounded great to me.

Sounds good to me, however I am no great understander of classical music so I am at a bit of a loss for things to say. My problem is I think "ok that would be the bass part, that's guitar 1" etc - I' checked with Chips (the classical connoisseur) and he said "I like it, it's quite beautiful actually. Amazing that it's an entirely virtual composition, it does sound exactly like a string quartet." High praise indeed! j$

Sounds wonderful! You can really get a lot of mileage out of some of these libraries. I think you used them really effectively

It's never too late to pick it up again. Give it a go. Cool arrangement. I like the pizzicato bits in there.

This is intriguing and so beautiful I could listen for hours.
