I seem to be stuck in a minor key lately. Here's a song for the skirmish inspired by news.
When you were a little child
You fell and scraped your knee
Your mom gave you a tender kiss
And said now let me see
She washed you, put a bandaid on
And wiped away your tears
She said that it's all better now
So set aside your fears
Take away the pain
Take away the sadness
Take away my worries
Of the world and all its madness
Take away the dark clouds
Take away these heavy chains
Take away these cares and burdens
So I can smile again
Now when I read the paper
I see depressing news
Some people work together
Some people just refuse
Some people just want money
And the planet pays the price
Some people have to have it all
While the rest just roll the dice
Take away the pain
Take away the sadness
Take away my worries
Of the world and all it's madness
Take away the dark clouds
Take away these heavy chains
Take away these cares and burdens
So I can smile again
Take away these cares and burdens
So I can smile again
Take away these cares and burdens
So I can smile again

Nice rhymes and story. I like the way it moves from the intimate scene with a child and mother out to the whole planet, and both scales work with the chorus. That's a lot to pull off in an hour/

Great instrument choice for this one - your steady strum is a great complement to your lines (which scan and rhyme perfectly, as usual). I love "some people want to work together/some people just refuse" - the repetition of "some people" is a nice motif. And very earwormy melody in your chorus - I'll be singing that the rest of the day! Finally, I love how you switch from major to the minor at the very end - powerful!

What a powerful sentiment! The chorus really hits hard. With just your voice and ukulele there's an immediacy that gets me right in the heart

Nice take on the prompt, something a bit different from a lot of the others.

Very moving - love the chorus. (Frank likes it too!) So fully formed for a skirmish.

We're all wishing for it. Good contrast between verses. A different level of pain. Well performed.

I like the structure. Vs 1 & 2 paint the past and he security of our childhood. Then that fabulous chorus. Vs 3 & 4 show us the world of the adult without the safety net Mom provided and the chorus then appears again as a desperate plea. Fine skirmish! Oh yes! My take away from this is that chorus is still going around in my head long after the song finished. Chapeau!

Lovely song. I like the uke work and the chorus was fantastic. Well done

This is great - really nicely constructed and lovely performance; it has a sincerity to it that is really charming. Very nice!

Oh this is just lovely lyrics, so sweet and tender. Love it!

That’s a great chorus! I can imagine this being a singalong favorite at your next show. Favorite stanza:
Some people just want money
And the planet pays the price
Some people have to have it all
While the rest just roll the dice

What a sweet song on how to overcome our difficulties! Great way to see the world through a child's eyes.

Beautiful song. I love how you start so up close and personal, then zoom out to the whole world. Powerful writing.

A well-chosen side-by-comparison. We’ve all wanted one thing to be as simple as another. The extension of the final chorus is a nice touch that helps to round out the song.

A great unless versal theme - loved the reminder of children are comforted like this and linking it to adulthood is effective

Nice relating it to both a small child and the world in general. It's a nice easy melody and works for this. Good skirmish.
