Almost didn't do this one, glad I did in the end.
Guitar with picky uke over the top, stuck to two chords to keep things simple.
Let’s leave this life we’re livin
Just for a week or two
I think I was a riot
Back when I met you
Let’s down tools and relinquish
Responsibilities
I’m sick of taking orders
From authority
I wanna play hooky
With you
I wanna try something
Brand new
I don’t care what we do
Let’s drop our baggage
And travel round the world
You can be my Indy
I’ll be your Friday girl
We could take our sweet time
Yeah we could slow it down
We could take the rule book
And rip up the town
I wanna play hooky
With you
I wanna try something
Brand new
I don’t care what we do
Playin hooky with you
We gotta come back someday
To reality
To the chores and the traffic
And all the crap on TV
I wanna play hooky
With you
I wanna try something
Brand new
I don’t care what we do
Playin hooky with you

The link is missing so I couldn't listen. Would have liked to hear the guitar and uke!
@frostin Mar 2022
Great lines there Stace. And thank you again for widening my English language skills!
@nancycunning Feb 2022
Love that fifth line I don’t care what we do
and the way it torques the whole feel from feeling dissatisfied to being up for anything. Also thought about how the word hooky can also mean a song that sticks in your head like this one does. Great singing and playing too.
So glad you did this skirmish.
@rhyl Feb 2022
love your lyrical style, Stace.
@whispermouse Feb 2022
I can't help but love songs with nested parenthesis in the title. "We can take the rule book / And rip up the town" is a great idea. Nice skirmish!
@porrectus Feb 2022
I love the chorus, it’s a great hook. Nice sounding Ukulele's and fantastic voice. Well done
@berni1954 Feb 2022
I like the interplay between the guitar and ukulele, both adding to the drive behind the lyrics.
Lovely understated vocal and some fine images to get over the justifications for these protagonists to play hooky - who wouldn't want to drop everything back in the days when petty rules ruled the schools.
@wylddandelyon Feb 2022
Awwww, this is so sweet. The soft voice and cheerful accompaniment work well together.
@misterdemp Feb 2022
This is such a sweet and fun song! I agree, I could really use a break...
@thedutchwidows Feb 2022
This is lovely; the playing has a lovely hypnotic feel to it and your voice is super; makes a lovely combination. Lyrically it's really, really strong. I'll be interested to see how well 'play hooky' translates - I suspect that's a particularly British phrase, and I love when stuff like that is put in a song. totally nails its origins without shouting about it...
@jwhanberry Feb 2022
What a charming, wishful song. We've all been there but often not gone there. Your song is a reminder that it's there for the taking. Fine skirmish.
@scruffyblues Feb 2022
Thanks @torsten. "playing hooky" means skiving/bunking/skipping off school/work/chores. It's really more of an American term but it sounded better than the British term.
@torsten Feb 2022
That's a sweet song. Nice accompaniment and great vocals. I don't know what "hooky" means, if it's a real english word, or if you just made it up, but it definitely makes something with the listener. Takes him away probaly...
@zeekle1998 Feb 2022
Oh I love the laid back, easy going feel to this. Great vocals that perfectly match the music. I’m glad you joined in.
@tunecat Feb 2022
Great song it seems to say- ‘listen to me’ right from the off. Love the gentle delivery and the tinkly guitars. A very tight write
@prsongsmith Feb 2022
So much great stuff here -- I love how we go on the whole journey and come full circle to reality. You made so much out of such a simple, universal yearning. Favorite lines: "Let’s drop our baggage
And travel round the world
You can be my Indy
I’ll be your Friday girl"
@blindsheepdog Feb 2022
lush…rain drops
@terenziano Feb 2022
I’d love to do that.
@kevinmason Feb 2022
Such a sweet little love song about running away! Soft, gentle, sentimental, whimsical. This just feels good to listen to!
@sbs2018 Feb 2022
Love the sentiment and soft, breathy vocals. Snappy melody, too! So fun!
@andygriff Feb 2022
Oh I very much like the sweetness here. Love a bit of whimsy. It's certainly a hooky song itself. Great stuff.
@keithcuts Feb 2022
awww play hooky with you
cute sentiment
conveyed well in your song
sweet vocals and backing
@hmstreetteam Feb 2022
Yes, wanting to get away, see the world, this song makes that thought all the more appealing.
