The writing prompt was take away. I am close to completing the 14-song challenge, and that’s what got me in a graduation mood.
I’ve been here for four years long
I did some things right and some things wrong
But I got my invitation
And I got the confirmation
That it’s time for me to be moving on
If there’s one thing that I could take away
It’s better to sleep at night and work in the day
Start early
Be on time
Meet the deadlines
Wait in line
And everything will work out fine
Take it away
The future’s different from the past
I was sometimes first and sometimes last
But it doesn’t matter now
We all take the hat and take the bow
And I’ll get on that train at last
If there’s one thing that I could take away
It’s better to sleep at night and work in the day
Start early
Be on time
Meet the deadlines
Wait in line
And everything will work out fine
Take it away

Ah, a story of learning the wrong lessons. The chorus flows quite nicely - solid skirmish!

I did some things right and some things wrong!! Truth!! I like the downstrokes on the guitar-emphasizes the be on time and meet the deadlines.

Fine take on the prompt. Your guitar work has really improved since last year. Great to se you working up the neck more. Your song and mine are close cousins, both dealing with the "factory fodder" mentality.

Really nice lyrics and a cool delivery. Very nicely done!

Love this reflective and philosophical questioning in these lyrics and your voice.

I like the mournful Ness of the melody against the happy Ish lyrics really nice skirmish well done

I like how you repeated the opposites idea in the two verses. "right/wrong" and "first/last". It helps keep it unified. Good job. And look at you with 13 songs and 3 weeks to go. Outstanding.

This has a Bruce Springsteen vibe, blue collar working class man tale. Nice

I can hear the truth and the personal story in this -- powerful stuff. "Sometimes first and sometimes last" is a great line.

"I’ve been here for four years long" - is that line and the whole song a reference to you taking part in FAWM? If yes, that's almost a tutorial one can listen to. And take away. If no, it's interesting to imagine what you are here for for four years...

This song feels like looking back over all the highs and lows of something big; a life, a career, school, etc. Wisdom and clarity.
@keithcuts Feb 2022
