Feb 2022 enby-with-a-guitar one-note
This one took me a while - right off the bat I knew I wanted to do the ultimate version of the one-note challenge, where it's not just the primary note I sing, but the ONLY note I sing. I figured since there's no chance for vocal melody, the fun part would have to be the vocal rhythm! After playing around with various musical ideas without hitting anything I liked, I remembered the second movement of Beethoven's 7th, which is also built around a repeated note. So, I took my inspiration from that!
Skip a sad sack song
Show me something strong
Don’t got all day, don’t take too long
Just take no shit and do no wrong
I’ve got mega- giga- ego
Keep your micro- nano- pico-
If you want to sneak a peek at me then
Spend $150 on me every weekend
For the cheesecake, pizza, drinks and
Brunch and munchie snacks -
And that’s facts
Get your vibe right, you gotta own it
If you don’t it makes you my opponent
It’s individual, no one can loan it
But a winner gives me all the serotonin
So skip a sad sack song
Show me something strong
Don’t got all day, don’t take too long
Just take no shit and do no wrong

This is amazing, I love how you went for the ultimate challenge on this one and did so much with it.

I love the shift from the sort of stacatto unpredictable bursts into the more rap-esque middle section, and the chords in the background really give the sound so much more movement than you'd think a single-note melody could muster. So good!

yep - you did it - that's an A from me

Umm… how did you convey so much with one note? I love the changes in tempo and pauses, added a lot of dimension. Also near rhyme own it + opponent = awesome lyric.

Beethoven didn't take no shit, good advice. Nice song.
