It's taken longer than I would have like to get this completed, but I've really enjoyed working on it. That said, I'm also glad it's finished so I can move on to the next one and try to pick up the pace a bit.
I don't think anyone following British politics will need any explanation of this, although I don't think the sentiments apply to only one party (or indeed to only this country). All politicians are equally to blame (although perhaps some more equally than others!).
Equipment notes: There's a load of different instruments on this one, but special mention to Spectrasonics Omnisphere, which makes multiple appearances here. The vocoder is from the Novation Ultranova.
We see you
When the options are all the same
Who will accept the blame
All of them are in the frame
‘Cause they’re treating it like a game
It seems the fools
Make all the rules
And they’re treating it like a game
The controls can be laissez faire
When you’re promising red chairs
Just remember who put you there
When you make another billionaire
It seems the fools
Break all the rules
To indulge another billionaire
We see you
You’re untrue
The things you do
The facts you skew
Time to renew
You and your crew
Let’s stage a coup
A change is due
Leave your morals at the door
As you shout across the floor
Can’t you hear those people roar
This is not our house anymore
I see the fools
Breaking all their rules
This is not our house anymore
We see you
You’re untrue
The things you do
The facts you skew
Time to renew
You and your crew
Let’s stage a coup
A change is due

There’s so many delightful textures, and so many clever little mix tricks that all work to maintain the interest. Spot on with the lyrics, and great vocoder action!!

This is really cool social commentary in a big pillow of electronica! Well done. Great to see you here again! Missed you at 5090!

That opening beat sits just right. I totally agree with seanbrennan, this has a Genesis vibe. Kinda of a truthful and sad sentiment about the world of politics. You communicate it clearly and your music and vocal delivery are fantastic.

I get some Genesis vibes, and also some Depeche Mode vibes, listening to this. Then of course, the sound samples in the chorus bring it pretty abruptly to a more modern palette - but "abrupt" doesn't mean it doesn't fit! The production and arrangement behind this are an immense success, and in my opinion worth the time. Because of how well the metric pattern varies between the verse and the chorus, I have no doubt you'll create plenty of engaging tunes this month even if you simplify things on the arrangement end. Bravo!
