I took on the one-one melody challenge I saw this morning, and I absolutely love what I wound up with here. I definitely wanna do something with this after FAWM, though I'm not sure if it's right for my solo jawn genre-wise.
One word rests on my lips, and it’s
Stuck there, tongue tries and trips, and I
Hope that it never slips at all
One war we choose to fight, our clothes
Slick black to dance with the night, our fists
Wrapped tight, knives sharp to bite and maul.
Wonder when we’ll arrive at the
New world we keep alive in our
Crushed hearts, squeezed dry to drive the fall
One voice reaches out and dies, then there’s
Two more. Metastasyze, and soon
Thunder fills up the skies. The Call.
One war we choose to fight, our clothes
Slick black to dance with the night, our fists
Wrapped tight, knives sharp to bite and maul.
I, I’ve seen this all before,
But I, I wanted so much more.
One war we choose to fight, our clothes
Slick black to dance with the night, our fists
Wrapped tight, knives sharp to bite and maul.
One voice reaches out and dies, then there’s
Two more. Metastasyze, and soon
Thunder fills up the skies. The Call goes on and on and on
And I, I’ve done this all before
And I, I wanted so much more
But there is someone in my head
Saying, “Keep this up and surely you’ll all end up dead.”
I think I’ve been here before
(One word rests on my lips, and it’s
Stuck there, tongue tries and trips, and I
Hope that it never slips at all)
And I, I’m moving on to more.
(One voice reaches out and dies, then there’s
Two more. Metastasyze, and soon
Thunder fills up the skies. The Call.)

Love how this builds - I read the challenge and couldn't quite imagine... but this is a fantastic take on it !

Very cool song. that verse build is totally awesome. Can imagine a band playing live!
@andygriff Feb 2022
Excellent take on the one note idea, demonstrating how versatile it can be with the right chords underneath. Great lyrics.

Sounds very cool, I've got some kind of nostalgic impression. Although it's very rough comparison, something reminds me The Cure. Well done!

Really cool, I was just trying to figure out how to do this...inspiring solution!

This works well. If I hadn't clicked here from the challenge thread, I'm not sure I'd have realised it was a one note melody. The backing changes the context enough that it keeps it interesting .

Great build to the verses on this track and really nice take on the one note Melody challenge. Your voice sounds great when you really go for it on the choruses.
@pabrizzer Feb 2022
great response to the one note challenge - oh - you broke out - with the 'I' section and the bridge
good song
@bootlegger Feb 2022
Really driving. The guitars really keep it going. And the melody totally works with all that movement around it. Really nice. That chorus is such an awesome release. Yeah definitely dress this up at some point. Great song!

love the minimalist vibe of this. and the hope that the rising scale creates. the melody and rhymes work great. thanks for sharing

This works really well. I like how the lines flow into each other. The instrumentation really drives it along and builds it up really well. A fine indie number.
