This is definitely my favourite so far. It's very simple but I think it's rather lovely, despite its rather emotionally screwed-up centre (which is my musical specialty). I love the multi-layered nature of emotion, the complexity of the mind - I like exploring what's going in there. This song has a lot: loneliness, desire, despair, self-loathing, selfishness. It's not just "I'm sad" or "I'm heartbroken". Going deeper into what that comprises, teasing out the fragments that make the whole. That's what I love exploring as a songwriter.
I’m in a crisis
Don’t know where this night takes me now
And I don’t like this
I’m sure in time I will break down
But for the moment
Come fill the empty space awhile
No, I’m not sure but
You are the best choice I can find
I see your young heart descending
I don’t care if you’re pretending
Please spend the night here with me
I just want you to adore me
It’s kinda crushing
And it’s starting to catch up with me
The constant pushing
To feed addiction to the heat
With no connection
All these pretentious boys dish out
Their cruel rejections
But that’s not what this boy’s about
I see your young heart descending
I don’t care if you’re pretending
Please spend the night here with me
I just want you to adore me
I’m just a body
There’s lots that you don’t need to know
So say you love me
You’re only here to play your role
I see your young heart descending
I don’t care if you’re pretending
Please spend the night here with me
I just want you to adore me
Give me your world on a string
I just want you to adore me

You really get across the desperation of your narrator here. It reminds me of a far more poetic: "Queen Bitch" by Bowie in its intent.

Oh what a gorgeous chorus. Lovely verse too. I found this song very moving. It feels honest and, I'm sure, how many of us feel as we're seeking our soul mate, or just looking for validation of ourselves as valuable human beings. Beautiful song and performance!

This has a fabulous show tune vibe. It is definitely a keeper.
