A simple song that turned out to be not so simple! I wanted to write a song for my wife, who has been stuck in the same room for the past 7 days with the dreaded C word. The silver lining has been that I have had time and space to make a great start to FAWM, so I owed her big time! I dont often write mushy songs, but I wanted to cheer her up a little. I played it to her last night sat on the stairs, through a partially open doorway and made her cry. she even helped me tweak a couple of lines i wasnt too happy with. So i jumped into Garageband to start a demo - what the hell is the drummer track doing putting fills in the middle of the verse?! it took me a while to realise i had inadvertently wrote it in 3/4 time (one of these days i will do these things consciously instead of by accident!) After wrestling with the GB drummer in 3/4 time, i sacked her and just recorded it. Vocals recorded today and Voila!
Every sunrise, every blue sky
I share them with you
Every walk round, a new town
Exploring with you
And I cant help but smile
Every open, deep ocean
I dive in with you
Every airplane, every late train
I take them with you
And I cant help but smile
Cause you are my reason why
(space for strings n gorgeousness)
Every blind curve, every wrong turn
I ride them with you
Every heart skip, every lonnnnng kiss
Between me and you
And I cant help but smile
Cause you are my reason why
Every song that, Ive ever sang
I sang them for you

The ‘Every…’ structure is a very effective and clever device here. Sorry to hear about your travails with the GB drummer, sounds like you were right to sack them! And the song works perfectly well on its own terms like this. Very strong melodically, and very touching lyrics. Well done!

Full of heart. Just lovely. This would work equally well with a full band, but I also love it stripped back like this. You have a lovely voice, I really like when it does that little bit of trilly vibrato at the end of a phrase.

This is really nice. Your vocal sounds really beautiful and the stripped back arrangement works perfectly. Given that this was posted 3 weeks ago I hope your wife is feeling ok now! Lovely track, enjoyed it :-)

This is gorgeous and full of sincerity, a perfect acoustic that’s
missing nothing without them drums. I love that falling melody in the 2nd and 4th lines of the verse. and your tone is beautiful :)

The melody, phrasing, delivery, harmonic choices, and use of capo are right on. Your use of "space for strings n gorgeousness" is also fantastic. I can imagine in my head how how they could layer in and play some sweet, overlapping, and satisfying melody. I think this song could exist just on its own like this, or with a full production, and still be just as impactful: in short, the mark of a good song!

Lovely track. It works really well stripped back to just guitar and vocals, so I think removing the drums was a good shout.
@stephentanner Feb 2022
That’s a beaut Celine. Love it.
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
I'm not crying, you're crying *sniff*
Just gorgeous.
@andyt13 Feb 2022
Nice sounding guitar! Great production and a sweet song. Good job!
@geoff61 Feb 2022
It's official, I am now a fan, can't wait to see what you do with my meagre words :-)
@sdcpaman Feb 2022
Keeping it simple was the right choice. Nice lyrics, nice guitar work...
@andygriff Feb 2022
And yes it does sound like some swelling strings coming in after the second verse would be nice
@andygriff Feb 2022
Yeah sack the drummer! I love the timbre of your voice in this. Sweet (but not too much) and heartfelt. Lovely :)
@mk2021 Feb 2022
Lovely song, Celine. Would work with a full band lightly behind, but, honestly, it really doesn't need anything. Simply beautiful to listen to this as it is now.
@williamjames Feb 2022
Lovely song. Vocals sound angelic and emotional and the lyrics are just beautiful.
@jtsteam Feb 2022
This is lovely! Nothing wrong with a mushy love song every now and again :). I hope your wife feels better soon!
@theicylakes Feb 2022
Just simply beautiful! Lovely, lovely song! You should definitely write more mushy songs!!!!
@caseewilson Feb 2022
Oh this is so beautiful! The melody is spot on, the lyrics are tremendous and the delivery is perfect. I hope she feels better soon x
@mattwdunn Feb 2022
Great melody. It’s such a beautiful song. I’m really glad I happened upon your profile. Each song has been brilliant
@tukayandryan Feb 2022
This is so pretty. Really lovely space and pace. 3/4 is perfect for it too.
@dragondreams Feb 2022
This is beautiful. And the image of you singing this on the stairs made my eyes misty too.
I love the space you've given in the arrangement for the words to really hit home. And that suspended ending!
Fabulous song. :-)
@mariekevinkmusic Feb 2022
Such a lovely image of you sitting on the stairs and playing. No wonder she cried. It is a really sweet song. I like the feeling of space in the arrangement as well.
@steviej Feb 2022
hey there, I really enjoyed this, your vocal is very nice so easy listening, nice lyrics, I got a bit lost in the song for a moment, great job!
