A Shoulder To Cry On
Vaughan Ray Daniel
Today I saw a sight
I never thought I'd see
Another guy taking the place of me
Well, I got into my car
But I couldn't drive too long
I had to find a shoulder to cry on
It hit me pretty hard
The thought that she would cheat
I was still in a state of disbelief
The tears filled up my eyes
For seconds my sight was gone
I had to find a shoulder to cry on
bridge:
I used my shirt sleeve to buy some time
I thought I'd surely see to find
A place upon the side of the road
Just because I was cryin'
Doesn't mean I'd love dyin'
All I wanted to do was make it home
She hurt me really bad
But I wrote all this down
To let you know that I am still around
The tears came and went
Like that woman they are gone
I never found a shoulder to cry on
No, I never found a shoulder to cry on

Yup i wondered where this was going! Has all the elements of classic country. Like the shoulder play! Sad but a ray of hope!

Nice! By the end of verse 1 I was worried. The driving in the fifth line then the shoulder in the sixth made be think there was gonna be an accident. The singer stays safe by pulling over to the shoulder but never finds that sort that absorbs tears. Nice play on the word.
