Feb 2022 trippy-folk ambient
Coolest of the cool @wolfkier asked me if he could explore a new mix and effects on one of my FAWM tune from last season. Of course I was thrilled and he gave this piece the Wolf Kier treatment as only he can! We're all so unique in our approaches and that's the beauty of our big little Tribe!
Timeless Time (c)2021 Sonya Heller Music ASCAP
Verse
ancestors come alive
thru me with me
they have taken breath
in this very place
their stories preserved
told thru your
sweet and mournful sound
of loves and losses
children born and grown
souls in waiting
whisper from beyond
I shall come to be your teacher
and you shall come to know my song
Chorus
Skin and bone shall fall away
all you long for washed away
in the book of ages
yours is but a single page
In Timeless time
Verse
caverns echo
whistle in the wind
do you hear them call
to sit beside your clan
where hands have touched
what you have touched
and all have walked
where you have walked
take your place
for all you’ve come to learn
then take your leave
and here you will return
where hands have touched
what you have touched
and all have walked
where you have walked
Chorus
Skin and bone shall fall away
all you long for washed away
in the book of ages
yours is but a single page

I feel like I'm only getting half of the story here since I don't have the original version. I like the sparse arrangement here with the slight delay. The vocals sound so dreamy and the guitar grounds it way that is both earthy and yet a little distant. The violin(?) that comes in at :41 is terrific. Great sound and great accompaniment! The doubling of the vox at 2:00 really thickens up the chorus. I think it's cool the way one of the vocal tracks peels off into harmony at times but I wonder if it might be cleaner to double the main melody and have a separate track for just the harmony parts. Just a thought. Great listen! #tit4tat2

This is so dreamy and ominous, and the lyrics and the sound capture the vastness of time. It feels like the song exists far beyond the little part that we get to hear. #tit4tat
@cheslain Mar 2022
Absolutely beautiful. Great, mystical mood throughout with that hypnotic guitar and the flowing vocal melody really going well with the poetic lyrics. Neat little production tricks there to enhance the listening experience.
@sheilerk Mar 2022
What wonderful lyrics, I can see why Wolf would want to explore them. I didn’t hear the original version, but I love this. The vocals and music sit right where they should and give the effect of a dreaminess, an ethereal feel that melds perfectly with lyrics about timelessness, and the movement of life through time. I also loved the reference to hands touching what you have touched, feet walking where you have walked. The whole thing is really profound and effective.

The guitar picking is gorgeous and I love the atmospheric sound. The chorus is really beautiful, and double tracking is a nice touch at the end. Your vocals are lovely and I love the vocal treatment in your mix. The outro is really pretty. #tit4tat

Timeless, truly... this song spans two FAWMs! This is a lovely treatment of this dreamy lullaby. This is a great song that was well worth and served well by a little extra attention.
@jayjay Feb 2022
Really beautiful lyrics, beautifully sung and sensitively set to music. Gorgeous piece of work.

I do remember this beautiful song from last year. Now exquisite in performance.
@donna Feb 2022
An exquisite pairing of Wolf's mixing skills and Sonya's thoughtful and well-crafted lyric. I love the lyrical theme. The music has an ethereal feel, which appeals to me, as well as the understatedness of it; it keeps the spotlight on the vocals and music.
@the3queens Feb 2022
I did not hear this last year but it's so gorgeous! I love the "where hands have touched what you have touched, and all have walked
where you have walked" premise. And I'm hearing a Bowie-esque vocal.
Beautiful, mesmerizing collaboration. I'm glad I stopped by for a listen.
@berni1954 Feb 2022
Wonderful collaboration. You handle these dense lyrics marvellously.
The lyrics are very moving, connecting us, in this brief candle of time, to the lights snuffed out long ago and those lights which are yet to come.
@sherrycanary Feb 2022
I remember being moved by it last year. Wolf, so effortlessly beautiful and
Such a wonderful collab by 2 very creative talented FAWMers
@davidtaro Feb 2022
Well, you’re working with great source material, but I love how you bring in those more ambient textures subtly, so as not to overwhelm the delicacy of the song. Really nice work, both!
@williamjames Feb 2022
Missed last year, so not familiar with the original but this is very powerful! The vocal performance is strong and the slight echoes add to it beautifully! The subtle strings fading in and out give an ethereal vibe. really beautiful!
@dzdandcunfsd Feb 2022
I remember this song as well from last year!
Wolf's got a great ear, and knew better than to intrude on an already magnificent performance :D The little subtle string touches, and whatever he's done to some of the vocals, and all the other magic things here or there do nothing but really enhance this beauty! Great work all around!
@tamsnumber4 Feb 2022
I remember this song and really like the additions that just accent the beauty that was already there. Everything about this, vocal, write and production is lovely and so are the folks involved.
@nahlej381 Feb 2022
Great song great collab. Both of y’all are super talented. Much love and respect
@richaaaay Feb 2022
Nicely done! Wolf's additions were so subtle and perfect for this wonderful song. Very cool...
@apolez3 Feb 2022
Think your voice gets better as you sing esp with the starting of the chorus
love this verse :"caverns echo
whistle in the wind
do you hear them call
to sit beside your clan
where hands have touched
what you have touched
and all have walked
where you have walked
take your place
for all you’ve come to learn
then take your leave
and here you will return
where hands have touched
what you have touched
and all have walked
where you have walked"

This. “We're all so unique in our approaches and that's the beauty of our big little Tribe!” Beautiful words, Sonya!!
I looooove your lyrics and vocals. Wolf’s treatment is a dream.
@ferry0123 Feb 2022
The fingerpicking is very pleasing, at times it's a little different in timing than I'd expect. The vocals are very nice on top of the guitar playing. It's a poetic song, and the production is dreamy, which does this great song the justice it deserves. Nice!
@eas3637 Feb 2022
Another beautiful song. Your vocals are so evocative on this track, and the strings complement them really effectively. I love the line "I shall come to be your teacher/and you shall come to know my song."
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
Ooooh… I remember this incredibly beautiful song and it is so cool to hear it come alive in a different way. Wonderful approach and collaboration.
@gm7 Feb 2022
Very very nice. And that chorus both lyrically and melodically is Top shelf.
