Feb 2022 retro-indie-guitar-pop goes-with-a-book early-valentine
The lyrics here are written by my brother-in-law Paul Dubitsky.
He's been working on a novel and "Table for Two" is the title. This is Paul's very first song!
Lyrics by Paul Dubitsky
He was a party of one….. At the front of the line
Alone in line... Alone in line
I was a party of one…. At the the back of the line
I was alone in line... Alone in line
They called for parties of two and more
They called for parties of four
Twos and fours twos and fours
He was alone starin’ at the floor
He was standing alone…. Looking fine
Standing alone…..Waiting to dine
He was a party of one and I was too
He looked at me we knew what to do
They called for parties of two and more
They called for parties of four
Twos and fours twos and fours
We were both ones but not anymore
We got a table for two… a table for two
We were a one… now we’re a two
He looked at me and said how about a brew
If you have one I’ll have one too
Two brews for the table for two
We were a one and now we’re a two
They called for parties of two and more
They called for parties of four
Twos and fours twos and fours
We were both ones but not anymore
We got a table for two… a table for two
We were a one… now we’re a two
We came as a one… and now we’re a two
We were both ones and now we're a two
At a table for two

This is cute, retro fun! Very catchy melodically and a lyric that tells a sweet story. Enjoyed my listen!

Made me "Hungry" to hear more!!

Really fun and catchy lyric and setting! Love the crunchy guitar tone against the jingle of the tambourine. And I ADORE that single-note triangle solo! Oh my word, that megaphone, just too much!

Lyrically clever and full of sonic goodness. And for some reason your vocals and even the arrangement reminds me of Blossom Dearie and the awesome work she used to do on School House Rock and even her latter jazz standards.

love the details (organ? megaphone?) - funnily simple and simply fun.

What a cute song! Has this irresistable r'n'r indie-pop feeling.

What a fun collab: the story is so well told, we don't even need a video: everybody can produce it better in their own mind's eye.

Really cool song. Melody is great and engaging. Guitar sounds great. Love those distorted backgrounds and the extra filler bits. Seriously good stuff.
