A song about second guessing one's self in the pursuit of self and art.
This one was written making use of a rhyming dictionary and the song "House That Used to Be" by Old 97's as a template. Things aren't coming as easily naturally right now, so when that happens I start a song off as something almost pure imitation. Songs like this either get completely dismissed as "just wrote it so I could write something" or they find new life in a rewriting stage.
When trying to write songs quickly either during a "Song a week" exercise or in a condensed time period like FAWM, some times the act of just writing and finishing a song is better than doing nothing, even if it's blatantly ripping something off.
Well I guess I’m a little bored
Always trying to find a chord
I’ll just make some room on the floor
So tired of coming in third
What’s this moving toward
Tell me is there even a cure
I know I seem self assured
Truth is this is a little absurd
And this is just a matter of words
Which are just a matter of course
When I’m at a loss I try to find some choice
I’m just trying to find my voice
There ain’t another thing to say
Why set out to ruin our day
In time we all find our way
We find every reason to stay
And this is just a matter of words
Which are just a matter of course
When I’m at a loss I try to find some choice
I’m just trying to find my voice
And this is just a matter of words
Which are just a matter of course
When I’m at a loss I try to find some choice
I’m just trying to find my voice
