Feb 2022 lo-fi darkwave post-punk dreampop
This was my first go at feeling out sounds and riffs! I wanted to mix lo-fi/dream pop with droning tempos from post-punk and darkwave.
I challenged myself to write lyrics as I went, but I'm not as flexible vocally. Hoping I can get the chance to trim down and refine once I'm caught up!
There aren't any punch-ins, just single takes from the following instruments-
Circuit Rhythm for drums/one-shots
Arturia MicroFreak for intro/pads
Fender Precision Bass
Fender Jazzmaster
Everything is recorded in Logic Pro with stock plugins. :)
* will be updated with lyrics/vox

Getting a Cure-like vibe here (which I love), the lead guitar line reminds me of Johnny Marr, not an easy feat. And their little flourishes are perfectly placed. The joyous whoop sample is a nice offset to the otherwise dark mood. Really loved this one!

Are you writing the soundtrack for my dead-city-dead-man-sci-fi-dystopian-paranormal-space-noir? Because it sounds like you are. I dig this. A lot.

Makes me feel like driving somewhere far far away in the dead of night once the guitars and other instruments start coming in. Love that feeling of being pulled forward into the unknown!

Aaah, can I get more of this? I live for this kind of bass-driven atmospheric post-punk/shoegaze! Mesmerising.

Given the title I expected the intro was how the whole track would be and I was fine with that. Then that beat kicked in with the boomy thumpy bass and the little bleeps and oh yeah. So many layers, this fills up the whole sonic field without feeling cluttered at all. Like I'm speeding through outer space.

I'm basically just repeating @rayboneor That is an amazing guitar tone, and the bass riffing is really nice! and I did crack a smile everytime a little thwip went by :D Do let me know when/if you add some lyrics would love to come back for a listen.

I love the brooding intro. I was sitting there, leaning in, waiting. And then the guitars come in. This is just my cup of tea. Those guitars sound awesome, and there are lots of aural treats in there. The little bleeps make me smile every time. It all works

This is delightfully atmospheric. It feels like it should be part of a puzzle platformer soundtrack, the way it keeps driving and focused, while still maintaining enough variety for interest and color. Well done!
