There are plenty of song that tout ones triumphs and successes, I thought I'd write an anthem for underachievement. I would have liked to have had a better resolution for the final verse, something to tie it all together--rather than just another couple of items from the list, in this "list song." I guess, here's to all the songs left unresolved.
Here’s to the secret treasure we’ll never find
And here’s to the mountain range we’ll never climb
Here’s to the secrets that have been kept hid
And here’s to all the things we never did
Here’s to a lifetime of avoiding action plans
Of taking the easiest way to the promised land
Here’s to always making the losing bid
And here’s to all the things we never did
The places we did not go
The seeds we did not sow
The things we did not say
Who needs them anyway
Here’s to the guy who tried, but not too hard
He knows somebody’s got to play that losing card
All the girls in the world who never flip their lid
Here’s to all the things they never did
Here’s to all the things
Here’s to all the things
Here’s to all the thing we never did

I like how blowing the lid off a secret is one of the things we really should've did! That delivery on the last "who needs them anywayyyyyy!" brings a smile :-)
And the things that the *girls* never did brings a laugh! Yes, you got out of list song hell, trust me!

"Anthem for underachievement" -- brilliant! And "here's to the guy who tried but not too hard" .... I can relate. Nicely done.

NICELY DONE! This is the sort of song I'd write if I could just relax and let things happen. Moar please

Guitar rhythm moves nicely.
Everyone at least once in a while thinks what if?
Here's to another Dog Latin song!

I like how you think! Your song has some folk vibes which I particularly enjoy. Nice guitar work especially your transitions.
