Feb 2022 folk climbing simple guitar and needs-vocals
A simple one,
As I climb I am conscious of the moment
I feel the stone, understand its story
My body is in balance
Searching for a handhold
Trying to find the passage to ascend
The wind brushes against my face
And for the briefest moment
I am frozen in a rocky embrace
I will find the way to the peak
Though it seems just out of reach
I will trust my equipment
I will conquer every fear
I am part of this great landscape
I do not have to think straight
Just let my mind go blank
Let my instinct take control
It’s a metaphor for something
Though I really can’t be sure
Trying to focus for the moment
Pushing all your thoughts away
Trying to conquer all your fears
And not doing it for others
Only for a sense of joy
Standing high upon a mountain
Looking down on all below

Feels like one of the metaphors in this beautiful song might be what it feels like to write a song. Great work,

My goodness, you are prolific... I like how you go on-the-nose with the third stanza. I was just starting to think "What is the specific metaphor?" Well, you address that! :-) Really nice call with the minor dominant chord, keeps it melancholy and dark.

Nothing wrong with simple! This one does have a soft urgency I like.
