Amanda re lyrics:
I came up with the title for this one first,. I am a huge Inspector Morse fan, and even more so of the original books written by Colin Dexter.
The final book in the series is called 'The Remorseful Day' and it's the day Insp Morse dies. It's this book title that inspired this song.
David's music fits this just perfectly !! And his performance is amazing.
My heart runs on nothing, anymore
Since the tenderness died
Too much space in the void
Too much air in my sighs
My body lies, crying
On clean cotton sheets
No more perfume shared nights
Chorus
Ooohh
Why do I feel this way
Hmmm
This is all too much
But it doesn't go away
Ooohh
It doesn't go away
Oh remorseful love
Where's the feeling gone, so strong before
Yet I'm still missing you
I'm sorry for my words
Love I gave only hurt
Where once was desire
All love an' no blame
Burnt emotions of shame
Chorus
Ooohh
Why do I feel this way
Hmmm
This is all too much
But it doesn't go away
Ooohh
It doesn't go away
Oh remorseful love

The lyrics throughout are rock solid. However, musically, for me this is all about the chorus. It’s catchy as can be. Those Oooohs and Hmmmms. Of course that guitar solo stands out too. I love how it ends on that big bend. Yeooooowwwzaaa!!!

Amazing production value here. I feel like this is reminding me of so many songs, but I can't put my finger on it! Great lyrics and what a vocal performance.

There’s that solo sound again!!

Oh wow this is like straight from my Now That’s What I Call Music vol.2 vinyl album. Yeah. That’s right. 2. Again I’m getting Paul Young vibes or even could be an Alison moyet song. Remember her?!

This is a straight up banger! The lyrics definitely lent themselves to a power ballad and the arrangement went at that full throttle. This is a perfect collaboration, great work to both of you! Amanda's lyrics how a lot of emotion in them and David managed to get every last bit out of them.

Perfect blending with your powerful lyrics and bravo to David for his powerful music and performance.

Powerful and melodramatic, just as an 80s power ballad love song ought to be! Sounds and production are just right for the genre. That one held high guitar note at the end of the solo is just TOO perfect!

The title pulled me in, and I enjoyed your reference to the Inspector Morse series. I've read all the books, and have the complete series on DVD. But I've never been able to bring myself to watch that final episode. Morse was such a memorable character.
I look forward to hearing the song. Very nice imagery in this highly relatable lyric. I especially like the first four lines in V1.

Powerful. Yes - that is what immediately comes to my mind. It's cathartic and it's making me need to expedite a song I'm working on. Please let me know when the demo is ready.

Mmm real truth and sincerity in this, and really strong imagery, I love the lines in the first verse about I much air in my sighs and missing the smell of perfume on the sheets. Can’t wait to hear it!

This is very poetic and powerful. It's wonderful. I can't wait to hear it with music.

That opening line is terrific. You're not saying the heart doesn't run, but that it runs on nothing, which is intriguing. And I love how you follow with mentions of space and void and air. David has the chops to do this up right, no doubt
@nahlej381 Feb 2022
Wow this is great! Love the line “too much space in the void” the philosopher part of my brain went bananas over that

Hi Amanda, love this one! Any chance I can have a crack at the music? I feel an 80s power ballad coming on.... ;)
