The music came out of trying a new plugin. Lyrics started as a mental illness thing and morphed into COVID territory.
The two are very close in MANY ways, sadly.
Love
I can hear her gently cry
Above
The silent witness of the sky
Why'd you leave me here with just insanity
The voices in my head to keep me company
Friends and family just on computer screen
As everything have begins to atrophy
Free me
Now
I stand in the precipice of time
It's how
I can see although I'm blind
I wandered down the streets and cross the avenues
Searching through the dirt just to find the truth
And all the world it seems has come unglued
Order some more cages for the people zoo
You too
We
Sit and for that better day
Free
Just to go outside and play
Do you remember what the world was like before
Before we hugged the far walls of the corridor
When the whole wide was to explore
When the last time you saw a full shelf at the grocery store?
No more

I LOVE this. It felt brooding and intimate, but epic at the same time. It gave me prince vibes!! Very timely and sharped lyrics, packed full of imagery. The line “before we hugged the far walls of the corridor” struck me as particularly brilliant!

@ivannaapplepie not going to lie, I was patting myself on the back a little with some of those lines. Thanks for the comments!

@slusk thanks so much!

Oh, I see. Well, nevermind. Anyway the song stuck in my head!

Love the dark, spooky atmosphere you’ve created. My favorite line is “before we hugged the far walls of the corridor” nice work!

@slusk I appreciate the nice words and constructive criticism re: my vocal. Sadly, not much I can do. Plugins don't catch many of the flaws in my vocals so I stopped trying.
I'm able to correct other vocals, but not mine.
I think this is largely due to the fact that I have no teeth. As a result, I have had to re-learn how to speak and sing with as little impediment as possible; in comparison to others I have far better diction, but on occasions like these with a lower or softer vocal....nothing I can do.
I think it's because all of my hard sounds are false...not made against a hard surface with the right air flow...but instead in weird configurations of tongue, throat, and lip.
And vocal corrections just muddy it because the tonal differences are not nearly as crisp.
So....yeah
Best you're getting, I'm afraid.

0 de-ess, actually. Dunno.

Nice evocative and continuosly suspenseful chord progression+production. (Too much deesser?)
