This is very much a draft as you can hear me losing the melody.
I felt I needed to write something that wasn't miserable relationship stuff so this is a cynical upbeat tune.
G D Em C
GDC
You know what you meant
When you said what you said
You meant it with love
But now it is sent
You await the resentment
Because the moment that any words leave you lips
They will stumble in the air with a freudian slip
And trip and fall before it’s the wall of a miscommunication
E C G F#/D
Do you think that you know
How everybody’s gonna take it
These things never go well
When your life is a show
Think it might be best to fake it
For as long as you can fake it if you can fake it at all
It’s all good to run til you run til you run into the wall
I heard what you said
I didn’t think that you should say it
At all
Hit me in the chest
How could you forget
Your words could have left me on the floor
Because the moment that you said the words I didn’t know
How you meant em cause I didn’t understand the tone
I think it’s best you end the conversation
Am C G F#/D
I just think it’s for the best
If you could take to time to address
what I said that you had said and how it conjured in my head
A lot of pain and vitriol
I’m not hypocritical
I just think You should explain yourself and blame yourself and shame yourself and change yourself but

This hit me in the 90’s feels. Kind of a “semi-charmed kind of life” vibe. Solid hook. Just a great pop rock song!

Yep! Like it. Cynical delivered in an upbeat style seems to touch a lot of people. I try and remember to sound happy while writing about doom, death and whatever - fail most of the time!
