I think this FAWM will be a grind, and low productivity - too much non-FAWM life going on - but song one is in the bag. Falling in love reciprocated and a crowd of people hanging out and enjoying the day together. Things that are worth celebrating in song.
One fine morning
Gonna meet you down by the river
Sparkle in your eyes
Flowers in your hair
I come calling
Heart in hands a bouquet of roses
Eyes wide open
The answer to my prayers
Smiling like you've been waiting
All your life to meet me all the way
Friends and neighbours
Arrayed on the banks of the river
Dressed in their Sunday finest
Blankets and picnic baskets
Children are laughing
Splashing in the shallows without a care
This day's been a long time coming
And you're there
Smiling like you've been waiting
All your life to meet me all the way

A very fine tune. Love the drumming in this. You paint a very happy scene of summery contentment shared with loved ones. I like your guitar work too in this.
@cicpisces Feb 2022
@quork good to be your randomn collab. I'll email a lyric to you. You're welcome to change anything. Or I can write something new if you have an idea

nice drums - they really stand out! nice not rushed delivery with a strong guitar! a nice happy song and the mando comes in very nice! subtly is how they work best to my ear

Glad I scrolled back to listen to this one. This is a really nice vocal and I DO love that drumbeat.
Great job!

The tom-tom beat is wonderful. Carries the song and gives it an energy that’s primal, like Indigenous drumming, that’s perfect for the natural setting. I like your singing (a fact that’s coming back to me now from previous fawms), use of a second guitar in the right places to lift the song, and descriptive phrases. “Eyes wide open, the answer to my prayers” is a standout line.

Very up song. Made me happy that you shared it with me. May we all have good luck and grace. Nice job

What a unique melody, I like how it's kind of unexpected and goes where it will.
The drums are nice and warm and work so well with the lyrics. I can picture an inviting riparian picnic scene, which is nice because it's so freezing cold where I'm at right now and I needed a nice summery mental image like this :-)

This is such a sweet song. Beautifully descriptive lyrics, and I very much enjoyed the mandolin solo!

Cool drums going on; really liking the rhythm here.
That left panned guitar is doing some fun stuff.
There's an upbeat, lively, almost happy feel to the music. Can always use more music with life to it that makes us feel good.
Along with my head grooving to the drums, I feel a little reflective of different times and people and places from the past.
Your vocals are good here, too; I think your voice has a somber, very serious quality to it, but also that adds a cool flavor to the more playful music. And the lyrics and your vocal delivery are a perfect fit; good story-telling style.
Enjoyed my listen.

Sounds good. Love the mandolin but I also dig your choice of drum tracks and the non trad electric guitar sounds. Great lyrical imagery!
@mandolinda Feb 2022
Came for the mandolin. Great song, I am always happy to hear you weave stories with a mando.
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
This is really lovely - the images are vivid. I love how the drum propels this forward as the mandolin noodles that give it a different dimension than other songs of similar genres. Great vocals too.
@lowhum Feb 2022
I kept on hearing angel there. Nice mando outhro
@oldlostjohn Feb 2022
A piece of solid writing, the lyrics play like a short film. As a mandolin lover I like what's going on in the left speaker.
@tseaver Feb 2022
Lovely write. Paints a wonderful picture of the day, and conveys the joy of it beautifully.
@berni1954 Feb 2022
I like how you build this up with a series of quotidian images. Great positive love song. Unusual drum choice for a basically acoustic song, but it works. Nice mandolin picking too!
You MUST do some more, even if you don't get to 14.
@spazsquatch Feb 2022
The imagery is very engaging.
@gm7 Feb 2022
One in the bag...it's a start. Nice touch with the mandolin toward the end.
@dzdandcunfsd Feb 2022
I was to give you crap for just now posting a song.... but understand.
Really enjoyed this, its like that great jangly guitar and the mandolin? were the two people meeting up. Great lyric too! It paints a full wonderful picture without a lot of words. Awesome performance and percussion track as well. I'll forgive you if you're not real active, this is a great one lol.

A whole lovely complete story, great lyrics, and the the music really celebrates the feelings with warmth and depth -- the percussion gives it lightness and punctuation, and the twining melodies pick up on the two people who meet and all the people in their lives around them. Delightful song!
